Summary

The 14th Annual Health Workforce Research Conference, hosted by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), will be held May 10 to May 11, 2018, in Tysons, Virginia (Washington, DC, area), preceded by optional preconference sessions on May 9. The theme of this year’s conference is Building Bridges and Breaking Down Barriers: Diversity, Inclusion, and the Health Workforce.

The AAMC Health Workforce Research Conference is the premier opportunity for researchers, educators, and policymakers to meet and discuss state and federal workforce issues.

A special plenary, “The Health Workforce: Transitions, Diversity, and Contributions to Care”, will feature four research endeavors that highlight the breadth and depth of current health workforce research. These studies look at the experiences of nursing professionals in navigating career transitions, perspectives on diversity in a rural area, an innovative program to improve access to oral health care, and the contributions of PAs and NPs to opioid use treatment.



In addition, the 14th Annual AAMC Health Workforce Research Conference will include an extensive selection of breakout sessions featuring research and findings from health workforce researchers from across the nation. Sessions will cover:
