Program Overview

The University of Rochester Institute for Innovative Education is pleased to announce the upcoming event, 19th Annual Diabetes Conference: Diabetes Management - When Conventional Wisdom Collides with Reality. This one-day educational conference will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, NY.
This educational activity will provide primary care physicians, pediatricians, mid-level providers, endocrinologists, nephrologists, dieticians, and other allied health professionals with updates in diabetes research and treatment options. Topics this year will focus on the many facets of diabetes management that give providers the most difficulty but are often not addressed in enough detail. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Explain the differences in treating elderly versus young patients with diabetes.
  2. Describe how sleep disturbances can worsen diabetes control and how we can improve this.
  3. Explain how important bone health is in patients with diabetes.
  4. Identify the issues facing diabetes care in minority populations, and learn how to better treat diabetes in minority patients.
  5. Learn to identify and treat diabetic patients with lipid disorders.
