About Seattle Out and Proud (SO&P)
Seattle Out and Proud (SO&P) sponsors and produces the annual Seattle Pride® Parade to commemorate three nights of civil unrest known as the Stonewall riots. These riots occurred in late June 1969 in response to official harassment by the New York Police and are considered the birth of the movement for equal rights and liberation for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. Many communities in the U.S. and around the world hold Pride celebrations in June in memory of Stonewall. Thank you for joining us in celebrating our history and promoting equal rights for all Americans without prejudice.

About the Seattle Pride Parade
On June 26, 2011, Seattle Pride will host its 37th annual Pride Parade starting at 11:00 am. The parade kicks off at 4th Avenue & Union, and will proceed north down 4th avenue to Denny Way.

This is a Rain or Shine event!

Theme: The theme this year is Be You. Be Proud. Express Yourself!, and is a celebration of the cultural, spiritual, ancestral, and philosophical diversity that the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, and our advocates’ communities express every day. The theme evokes feelings of standing proud for who you are, and shedding the fear that represses the human bonds of acceptance and tolerance. Stand up and declare, “I AM! WE ARE!!” This year’s theme is a celebration of our ability to create, innovate, share, and express ourselves on our terms, and in our way. We invite you to find new, exciting, and creative ways to express who you are. Declare your message loud and proud along 4th Avenue this June – Be You. Be PROUD. EXPRESS YOURSELF!
