The Holocaust and Coming to Terms with the Past in Post-Communist Poland
Professor Jolanta Ambrosewicz-Jacobs
Professor Jolanta Ambrosewicz-Jacobs is Director of the Center for Holocaust Studies at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, and the Museum's 2011-12 Ina Levine Invitational Scholar.
In her lecture, Dr. Ambrosewicz-Jacobs will discuss the reconstruction of the memory of the Holocaust in Poland, with special focus on the attitudes of young Poles toward Jews and the Holocaust 20 years after the fall of communism.
Dr. Ambrosewicz-Jacobs is a member of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe; Organization for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights' Advisory Council of Experts on Freedom of Religion or Belief; the Advisory Council on Education about the Holocaust to the Minister of Education of Poland; and the Polish delegation to the Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance, and Research.
The Ina Levine Invitational Scholar Award, endowed by the William S. and Ina Levine Foundation of Phoenix, Arizona, enables the Center to bring a distinguished scholar to the Museum each year to conduct innovative research on the Holocaust and to disseminate this work to the American public.
