The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response (OPHPR), Division of State and Local Readiness (DSLR) and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), Office of Preparedness and Emergency Operations (OPEO) invite awardees from each directly funded jurisdiction, as well as representatives from ASTHO, NACCHO, and other national partners to attend the 2012 Joint Preparedness Conference on March 21 - March 23, 2012 in Atlanta, GA. A pre-conference Burn Bed Surge Strategy Meeting will occur on March 20, 2012 in the same location.

Who Should Attend?

For the Joint Preparedness Conference, PHEP Directors and HPP Coordinators are invited to attend. The attendance of two representatives from each directly funded jurisdiction will be funded by John Snow, Inc. (JSI), a contractor to CDC. Jurisdictions may send a third participant using jurisdiction funds. Representative from ASTHO, NACCHO, and other national partners are invited to attend at their own cost. Air travel, hotel, ground transportation, and per diem for funded participants will be covered by JSI.

For the Burn Bed Surge Strategy Meeting, HPP or PHEP Project Directors from directly funded project areas, as well as NGO burn community representatives should attend. One representative from each of the funded jurisdictions will be funded by John Snow, Inc. (JSI). Representatives from the NGO community, as well as other national partners are invited to attend at their own cost.

How Do I Arrange my Travel?
The Joint Preparedness Conference will take place March 21 - 23, 2012 at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Atlanta. Please plan on arriving at the hotel no later than 8:00 am on March 21, 2012 and departing the hotel after 2:30 pm on March 23, 2012. For attendees also participating in the Burn Bed Surge Strategy Meeting, please plan on arriving at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Atlanta no later than 8:00 am on March 20, 2012, and departing the hotel after 2:30 pm on March 23, 2012.

Please mention the Joint Preparedness Conference and also indicate if you are attending the pre-conference Burn Bed Surge Strategy Meeting.

JSI will cover the flight costs and any related airline fees and taxes for two participants representing a funded jurisdiction through a master bill. All other Jurisdiction Representatives, Federal Employees, and Federal Partners will be responsible for covering their own costs for this conference. One of the sponsored participants should also plan on attending the pre-conference Burn Bed Surge Strategy Meeting on March 20, 2012. The last day to arrange travel is February 16, 2012.
 
How Do I Arrange for Lodging?
A block of rooms have been reserved by JSI at the Sheraton Hotel. Please contact Marquette at (404) 460-4795 or marquette_moore@jsi.com to reserve your hotel room. Please provide your name, organization, and the nights you will need accommodation. When you arrive at the hotel, you will be asked to provide photo ID for verification and a credit card for incidentals.

JSI will cover the lodging costs for two participants representing a funded jurisdiction through a master bill. All other Jurisdiction Representatives, Federal Employees, and Federal Partners will be responsible for covering their own costs for this conference. If you are one of the sponsored participants, who is representing your jurisdiction at the pre-conference Burn Bed Surge Strategy Meeting, please indicate that you also require a room on March 19, 2012. The last day to arrange lodging is February 16, 2012.  
 
Purpose of the Joint Preparedness Conference:

The three-day meeting is designed to:

  1. Provide awardees with training and information on the aligned 2012 HPP/PHEP Joint Cooperative Agreement 
  2. Assist awardees with planning their aligned program 
  3. Connect awardees with CDC/OPHPR/DSLR and HHS/ASPR/OPEO leadership, Project Officers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to receive guidance, support, and focused technical assistance.

Purpose of the pre-conference Burn Bed Surge Strategy Meeting:

The one-day meeting is designed to:
  1. Discuss existing regional burn strategies
  2. Begin to develop a plan for a large scale burn strategy
