2013-2014 Principles of Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Series
The Principles of Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology lecture series has been designed to mirror the Principles of Clinical Pharmacology series offered by the NIH Clinical Center. The series will address the fundamentals of clinical pharmacology from a pediatric perspective.
Recorded lectures from the 2012-2013 series will be shown via Webinar on Wednesdays from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM US Eastern Time, beginning on September 25, 2013. Following the recorded lectures, speakers will join the calls for a live discussion at 1:00 PM to answer questions, add updated information, and engage in a discourse about the lecture topic.
Incoming fellows must view the lectures during the scheduled time; returning fellows who have already viewed the lectures may review the recordings on their own time. All fellows are expected to join the discussion with speakers.
This is a unique opportunity to speak with experts in the field – we look forward to full participation in an interactive discussion.
This course addresses the fundamentals of clinical pharmacology from a pediatric perspective. A variety of topics will be covered including drug metabolism and transport, assessment of drug effects, pharmacotherapy, and pediatric drug formulations. A unique aspect of this lecture series will be a pharmacotherapy module which is intended to bridge the gap between clinical pharmacologists and subspecialists – special courses will be offered which examine the appropriate use of drug therapies in a number of subspecialties including infectious diseases, asthma, and pediatric oncology. The course will be taught by faculty from leading academic institutions across the United States, and staff from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
This lecture series has been specifically designed to meet the needs of pediatric clinical pharmacology students who lack a formal educational curriculum in this discipline. T32 trainees in pediatric clinical pharmacology are expected to attend all lectures.
Lectures will be shown weekly on Wednesdays from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM US Eastern Time, with a live discussion from 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM, beginning on September 25, 2013 and running through May 21, 2014.
We welcome your participation!
