2013 Joint COPs Summer Meeting

Summary

The Joint COPs Meeting is the annual gathering of the various Committees on Organization and Policy (COPs) of the sections of the A۰P۰L۰U Board on Agriculture Assembly (Academic Programs, Cooperative Extension, Experiment Station, and International Agriculture) as well as the Executive Committee of the Administrative Heads Section (AHS).

For invited leaders, the meeting begins with a Joint Leadership Dinner at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 is set aside for the BAA Budget and Advocacy Committee meeting in the morning and the BAA Policy Board of Directors meeting in the afternoon.

A reception Tuesday evening at the Flint Hills Discovery Center, a brief walk from the conference hotel, kicks off the joint sessions. Research, Extension and Teaching: Innovative Mission Collaboration and Integration is the theme for Wednesday morning featuring a showcase of mission-integrated programs. It is followed by a dialogue with USDA’s NIFA Director Sonny Ramaswamy about best practices of integrated programming.

A Wednesday luncheon for all participants highlights the Kansas Peterson Brothers who use media to advocate for agriculture. The joint session, led by the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy, continues with an afternoon USDA-NIFA Strategic Planning Listening Session. Depending on the section, meetings continue through 11:45 a.m. on Thursday.
