The future direction of systems operation and traffic management for the nation has made great strides since its meeting last April 2013. Participate in the 2014 Annual Highways Subcommittee on Systems Operation and Management (SSOM) meeting in Nashville, Tennessee on May 5-9, 2014 and resume SSOM camaraderie and employ the importance of cross cutting operations initiatives and programs that fall under the realm of the Standing Committee on Highways’ operations committees.
Significant contributions to the field of transportation operations have been accomplished this past year. Namely:
- The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITSA) executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish an Operations Center of Excellence (OCOE) on August 30, 2013.
- The AASHTO Board of Directors approved to support the SSOM leadership to develop a business plan for the OCOE.
- SSOM will review and vote on resolutions to establish an OCOE technical service program, finalize the OCOE business plan, and put the final touches on the SSOM strategic plan.
Let’s strengthen the concept and future of a strong transportation system operations and management community and attend this important meeting.
Looking forward to seeing you in Nashville!
