6-Time Hawaii Ironman World Champion Mark Allen will present a two-hour clinic on Sunday October 5, 2014 from 1-3pm. Mark will focus the discussion on how to train for an Ironman using principles that can be applied to any distance triathlon. Key to his lecture will be the following topics:
  • How to effectively build a base of fitness without burning out
  • The interplay of speedwork and strength training
  • Designing the perfect taper
  • The importance of stress management
  • Common mistakes in training and how to avoid them
  • The real story of race day nutrition

About Mark Allen

Mark Allen is a six-time Hawaii Ironman Triathlon World Champion. His ability to be victorious against all odds has made him a person many consider to be one of a handful of athletes in any sport who has redefined possibility during competition. Over the course of a 15-year racing career Mark maintained a 90% average in top-three finishes. He amassed a 20-race winning streak from 1989-1990 and won all ten times he raced the Nice, France International Triathlon.

Mark was named “Triathlete of the Year” six times by Triathlete Magazine, and in 1997 Outside magazine pronounced him “The World's Fittest Man.” His most recent sports accolade came in November of 2012 when he was voted “The Greatest Endurance Athlete Of All Time” in a worldwide poll conducted by ESPN.

Since retiring from competition Mark shares his stories of Ironman racing with corporate audiences worldwide, has a triathlon coaching service used in over fifty countries – – and is an award winning author along with Brant Secunda for their ground breaking book Fit Soul, Fit Body: 9 Keys to a Healthier, Happier You. Earlier this year he released the groundbreaking book The Art of Competition.
