Leading in a diverse world is part of the landscape of nursing education today and in the future. In alignment with NLN’s mission to promote excellence in nursing education to create a strong and diverse workforce to advance the nation’s health, this conference will address implications of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for strengthening healthcare workforce diversity and caring for diverse populations in complex health systems.
Inherently embedded in the implementation of ACA, is the need to provide faculty and students with a foundation for cultural due diligence and inclusivity. National experts will guide conference participants to engage in courageous dialogue about leading in a diverse world, affirming inclusivity as a core value and honoring human flourishing and equity of opportunity for all.
Conference participants will:
1. Explore inclusivity and its relevance to nursing education and health care
2. Describe the Affordable Care Act’s impact on nursing education’s role in preparing students to deliver culturally competent care to diverse populations.
3. Engage in courageous dialogues about inclusivity
4. Identify action strategies to develop a foundation for cultural due diligence and inclusivity in nursing education programs
