High School Delegates
High School Delegates will take part in the Biennial alongside participants of all ages, sharing opinions, learning, celebrating Shabbat, and
getting to know other congregational and North American leaders of the Reform movement.
In addition to the Biennial programming, High School Delegates will be part of a special "High School Cohort" where staff professionals from NFTY (the Reform Jewish Youth
Movement) will serve as mentors. The High School Cohort and Mentor will help teens navigate the Biennial, choose workshops and sessions, and provide a
micro-community to debrief and check-in with throughout the event.
High school students in grades 9 through 12 are invited to participate in either or both of these great options:
Congregational Leadership Track:
Temple Youth Group presidents and other high school students serving in a leadership role in their congregation are invited to participate in the Wednesday
to Friday congregational leadership program alongside the adult participants.
High school students must register as a delegate to the congregational leaders track in order to attend the Wednesday to Friday program.
Join with thousands of other Jews for the best Shabbaton in the world - complete with spirited worship, Shabbat meals, learning, and a variety of
unique activities from which to choose.
On Sunday, all high school students will have the option to participate in one of several activities around the Orlando area with other Biennial attendees.
The Friday to Sunday program is open to any high school student, regardless of affiliation or leadership position.
High School Students at Biennial - Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be special NFTY programming for high school students?
High school students are welcome into the full Biennial experience. Though there will be a few times that high school students gather in their
mentoring cohorts or for a special high school reception, there will not be a separate track or unique programming for NFTY participants.
What are the housing options for high school students?
High school students will have two options for housing:
High school aged children are welcome to stay in hotel rooms with parents/guardians who are Biennial participants. Please be aware, however, that if he/she is not registered in the high school room
block, he/she will not be able to sleep in or visit those rooms. URJ and NFTY staff will not provide supervision for high school students who are not
staying in the high school room block, however teens staying in their parent's room are welcome to join for any high school only gatherings. Like those
staying in the high school room block, teens must register as a Biennial participant and will be welcomed at all Biennial activities.
High School students are invited to stay in the high school room block (for an additional fee). All participants in this room block will be roomed with
other High School students and will be supervised by URJ and NFTY staff while they enjoy the full Biennial experience. Our staff will check in with them
throughout the day and ensure their health and safety during the program. In the weeks prior, we will share a schedule including times that high school
participants will check in with NFTY and URJ staff.
Will teens need to bring extra money?
Yes. In order to keep costs down and help all interested teens attend the Biennial, NFTY and the URJ will NOT be providing any group meals beyond what will
already be provided by the Biennial. Included in the Biennial rate are the following meals: Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast & Saturday lunch.
Therefore, teens will need to bring money to purchase food at one of the hotel's five restaurants or the food court for his/her other meals. There
will be a wide variety of price points available for food. We will provide information to your teen prior to the event with food options and general
pricing. In addition, your child may want to bring spending money for souvenirs and snacks.
How will teens get from the airport to Biennial?
Teens should plan to travel from the airport with the rest of their congregational delegation to Biennial. If that is not possible, we
are happy to help him/her connect with other teens traveling from the airport with whom to share a taxi.
