"Transforming Information through Innovation”
On behalf of the Wisconsin Technology Council and our conference co-chairs, Sujeet Chand of Rockwell Automation and Vivek Bhatt of GE Healthcare, thank you for your interest in the 2015 Wisconsin Tech Summit!
The 2015 Wisconsin Tech Summit was held on March 23 at the GE Healthcare Institute. The day-long event included about 170 participants, including representatives from 16 major firms, more than 50 emerging companies and 21 sponsors. In addition to a great presentation by Peter Gunder of American Family Insurance, the event featured about 175 "speed dating" meetings and 7 "office hours" presentations. A full attendee list is available here. Thanks to everyone involved for making the second annual Tech Summit such a success!
The goal of the Wisconsin Tech Summit is to bring together major companies and emerging firms in a setting that allows them to meet and explore likely business relationships around technology needs and innovation. Major companies will be able to hear from emerging firms with innovative products or services tied to areas such as “big data,” connected devices and data analytics in sectors ranging from health care to information systems, and from power electronics to telecommunications.
Those relationships might include contracting for research and development, becoming part of a larger supply chain, and pursuing investment or acquisition strategies. The summit is based on the assumption that large and small companies travel in different “orbits,” even if they’re in the same business sectors, and rarely collide except by chance.
To foster this type of communication, the Tech Summit will feature pre-scheduled, 15-minute strategic meetings between major companies and emerging companies. This format will resemble a “speed dating” exercise, allowing both parties to learn more about the needs and developments of the other.
Emerging company applications will be screened by the participating major companies and selected for meetings based on the information provided.
Participating major companies thus far include American Family Insurance, Aurora Health Care, BloodCenter of Wisconsin, Dedicated Computing, Direct Supply, Faith Technologies, GE Healthcare, HP Enterprise Services, Intel, Johnson Controls Inc., Kraft Foods/Oscar Mayer Information Systems, Marshfield Clinic, Mortenson Construction, Rockwell Automation, TASC (Total Administrative Services Corp.) and WEA Trust.
- An opening panel discussion to help set the stage for emerging companies by allowing major companies an opportunity to talk generally about their goals, needs and emerging markets;
- “Office Hours” meetings and presentations, which will be available to all participants during those times in which they are not scheduled for individual meetings;
- Closing presentation from Peter Gunder of American Family Insurance, who will bring perspectives that will be helpful for major companies as well as emerging firms;
- A continental breakfast, networking lunch and onsite reception.
