“Leveraging Space Proliferation to Understand Anomalies”

The Spacecraft Anomalies and Failures Workshop brings together space environment experts, spacecraft designers, and satellite operators to review potential triggers for satellite anomalies and failures, examine lessons learned from other domains, and discuss solutions in order to respond to call by National Space Policy to “rapidly detect, warn, characterize, and attribute natural and man-made disturbances to space systems.”

Details

Presentations run from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm on Dec 6 and 7, 2016

    * Check-in and networking begins at 7:15 am on Dec 6 and 7, 2016

Objectives of the Spacecraft Anomalies and Failures Workshop

    * Execute call by National Space Policy to “rapidly detect, warn, characterize, and attribute natural and man-made disturbances to space systems.”

    * Reinforce relationships between communities that do not regularly interact

         o Space environment experts

         o Spacecraft designers

         o Satellite operators

    * Review potential triggers for satellite anomalies and failures

    * Examine lessons from other domains

    * Discuss “solutions for attribution”

         o Physics to Engineering to Operations linkage

         o Each domain may employ differently

Registration fee of $35/day ($70 for both days) covers coffee/bagels and lunch

Registration by completed by November 29, 2016 (no exceptions) 

    * Access to the facility is strictly controlled

    * All attendees must be a U.S Citizen (citizen or hold a Green Card)

    * Attendees for December 7, 2016 session must submit security clearances by November 25, 2016

Session Classification Information

    * December 6, 2016 session is unclassified and attendees must be U.S. Citizens

    * December 7, 2016 session is a classified session at the TS/SCI level.  Attendees are required to submit visit certs to the host facility NLT Nov 25, 2016 in order to be cleared for attendance.  Details can be found under the Security Tab
