Apply for the 5th Annual Lown Institute Conference Scholarship
There are a limited number of scholarships that will be provided for the 2017 5th Annual Lown Institute Conference. These scholarships will provide funding up to $1200 to help bring individuals including, but not limited to, medical students, medical residents, nurses, nursing students, public health students, community organizers, civic leaders, patients and patient advocates to the 2017 Lown Conference.
If you identify in one of the following categories, then you are eligible to apply:
Scholarship applicants must attend Days 1 and 2 of the conference (Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6) to be eligible for the scholarship.

How do I submit my application? Applications must be submitted through completing the online registration process for the conference. Your registration will be considered pending until scholarship notifications are made. Further instructions on how to complete your registration will be provided with your notification.
When is the application deadline? The deadline to submit your application is Tuesday, January 17, 2017 by 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time.
Can I email my application? No. All applications must be submitted here.
Who is eligible to apply for scholarships? Students and trainees (including, but not limited to, medical, nursing, and public health programs), nurses, community organizers, civic leaders, patients, patient advocates, and other individuals affiliated with nonprofits engaged in advancing right care are eligible to apply. If you are international or if you’re unsure about eligibility, please contact us at scholarships@LownInstitute.org.
What constitutes a trainee? Medical or nursing students currently in their residency or fellowships years are considered trainees.
I can only attend the Research Symposium or I can only attend the Right Care Alliance General Assembly. Am I eligible to apply for a scholarship? No, scholarships are for attendees of the Lown Conference starting the Friday, May 5 through Saturday, May 6. You must attend both days in order to be eligible for the scholarship. We highly encourage attendees to also attend on May 7 to receive the full conference experience and learning opportunities.
I live outside the U.S. Am I eligible to apply? Unfortunately, the Lown Conference Scholarships are only available to domestic applicants this year. You may be an international student studying or working in the United States, but we cannot fund applicants currently living abroad.
How much are the scholarships? A limited number of $1200 scholarships will be awarded.
What will the scholarship cover? Scholarships cover any costs associated with the 5th Annual Lown Institute Conference to be held starting Friday, May 5 through Sunday, May 7 in accordance with the Scholarship Policy. These include hotel fees, transportation fees, and meal expenses. Your registration fee will also be waived.
Do I have to pay for the hotel? All scholarship applicants will be asked to provide a credit card to guarantee your hotel room for the JW Marriott during the registration process. You will be charged upon check-out of the hotel. All scholarship recipients may submit for reimbursement of their room cost.

Is there a special event for scholarship recipients at the Conference? There will be a Meet and Greet for all scholarship applicants. Once the event has been finalized, all recipients will be notified of details for the Meet and Greet.
Can undergraduate students apply for a scholarship? Yes, we encourage students starting at the undergraduate level to apply for a scholarship.
How can I check the status of my application once it is submitted? Once you’ve submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email. Notifications will be sent out February 6, 2017. If you have any concerns regarding your application, please email scholarships@LownInstitute.org.
When will I find out if I received a scholarship? All applicants will be notified by February 6, 2017 whether they received, did not receive, or are waitlisted to receive a scholarship.
What is my status for registration once I’ve completed the submission process for the conference? Your conference registration will be considered pending until we’ve received and notified applicants of their decision. You will receive instructions on how to complete your registration with your notification on February 6, 2017.
