Invitation to the Meeting

From the Program Chairs:

We invite you to attend the 2017 AAFPRS Annual Meeting. This meeting is all about new ideas and sharing them with you. We are excited to include talented members of our academy who may never before have had the opportunity to present their research and results in this venue. You will also hear seasoned opinions from surgeons with years of practice.

We have three full days featuring rhinoplasty, aging face, and non-surgical techniques. There will be an international surgery panel on Friday and a microvascular forum held on Saturday, as well.

It's going to be an exciting and educational meeting for all with plenty of new pearls to take home with you.

Some of the exciting sections this year include:
o Wednesday section for new surgeons
o Just starting practice? Speakers share their pearls of wisdom and experience on how to succeed and navigate through these first few years.
o Interesting panels, topics, and abstracts section
o Many new speakers presenting novel ideas
o Microvascular Workshop
o Business section focusing on how to run the office
o Focused rhinoplasty, aging face, emerging trends, and injectable sessions
o Live injection demos from experts in the field

We hope that you will all join us in Phoenix this fall. The weather is beautiful this time of year and we will all enjoy each other’s company as we learn the latest in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

From the Meeting Director:

The Board's charge to the Annual Meeting Program Director was to partner with Academy staff to improve the structural organization, efficiency, and financial solvency of our annual meetings, while creating institutional memory.

After hearing from members, my overriding philosophy has been one of inclusiveness (involving more members who had never been asked to speak), a reduction in unnecessary spending, and maximizing attendees time/educational opportunities.

To that end, beginning with the 2016 Annual Meeting in Nashville and continuing at this meeting in Phoenix, we have included more new speakers and many who are rarely asked to speak. We have reduced the number breakout rooms and consolidated the essence of presenter's expertise into several concentrated and topic related forums. We have also improved our afternoon practice management program, added more videos and time for new innovations/research presentations.

New for 2017 is a full day program on Wednesday designed to address the complexities of practicing facial plastic surgery in today's world. It is for those about to begin practice as well as those who are already in practice. We have never done anything like this and it should be very informative. Don't miss it; you can come and go from committee meetings.

Going forward we will continue to evaluate and
implement your feedback; keep them coming. We will work to make the programs as educational as possible while placing a high priority on your ROI for your time away from practice!
