2017 Concussion Symposium

The Ohio State Sports Medicine Concussion Symposium is intended for physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, EMS providers and other medical and non-medical professionals who are responsible for the health and safety of athletes.

Our unique panel of multi-disciplinary speakers will address a broad range of best practices in the identification and management of sports concussion, related research and return to play methodology. The symposium will blend speaker presentations, panel discussions and hands-on activity to emphasize the integration of science and practice.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to

    • Understand current and future direction of concussion care. 
    • Understand ethical issues, points of concern and approaches to management of concussions.
    • Understand complexities, strategies and treatment options for handling difficult concussions.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

  • Ohio State Sports Medicine is an approved provider of continuing education for athletic trainers. This program has been approved for a maximum of 7.0 continuing education units by the Board of Certification for certified athletic trainers. The program is being reviewed for 5.0 hours of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) continuing education units.

  • This program has been submitted to the Ohio Physical Therapy Association for approval of 7.0 continuing education hours for physical therapists and physical therapy assistants.
