Discover skills that will help you improve the quality of your relationships, deepen your inner peace, and increase your contribution in the world.

Join us to be part of a compassionate community learning together how to speak from the heart;

practice deep, nonjudgmental listening; and build self empowerment from the inside out.

This event is a 9-day residential training designed as an "immersion experience" in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) led by a team of experienced CNVC certified trainers.

The purpose is to offer you the opportunity to live the process of NVC in community over an extended period of time, in order to develop the mindsets and practical tools to help you in three areas:

1. Personal and Professional Relationships

  • Increase connection and closeness with the people you love.
  • Speak in a way that inspires compassion and understanding.
  • Initiate difficult conversations with more ease and confidence.
  • Remain centered and peaceful when receiving difficult messages.
  • Express and receive anger fully, safely and respectfully... yet powerfully.
  • Resolve long-standing conflicts and heal painful relationships.
  • Parent children from the heart and move beyond power struggles into cooperation.
  • Translate criticism, judgments and blame into life-serving messages.

2.  Inner Transformation

  • Shift patterns of thinking that lead to depression, guilt and shame and perpetuate pain.
  • Transform anger into self-understanding, thereby increasing inner peace.
  • Enliven yourself by expressing and receiving gratitude.
  • Learn to embody unconditional love.

3.  Contribution and Social Change

  • Teach others a way to increase inner peace, liberate themselves and strengthen relationships.
  • Share NVC in a ways that contains/transmits it’s power to transform and that inspires others.
  • Create educational systems where students love learning and teachers love teaching.
  • Learn to engage in effective, lasting nonviolent social change in the tradition of Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

We intend to prioritise these three areas within the IIT curriculum and there is also room for co-creation. There will be opportunities for you to make requests for specific topics that you imagine will support you in applying NVC in these areas of your life.

Seminar Language: English.

This retreat will be offered in English and is designed for people who have at least a basic ability to speak and understand English. We will not provide full translation into Greek or any other language, however we will offer several alternative options including:

  1. Greek speaking participants who are not fully comfortable expressing themselves in English can speak Greek in the full group and be translated into English.

  2. In many sessions, there will be an opportunity for practice in small groups. You can choose to be with others who speak the same native language and may conduct their small group in the language of their choice.

  3. If a trainer speaks a word or phrase that you don’t understand, you can request a spontaneous and brief translation of that word or phrase.

In the registration form we will ask “who will benefit from translation support” and if there is a request for translation support we will arrange it. Any Greek person who would like to participate but is worried about their language capacity, please contact the organiser in order to explore options and solutions.

Gina LawrieTrainer: Gina Lawrie:
Gina Lawrie lives in UK. She has been a certified trainer since 1997 and integrated NVC into her practice as a consultant, coach and trainer in both personal and organizational development. Being a facilitator of Open Space (OST), she recognized the synergy between OST and NVC and facilitated the first two giraffe conventions as well as other events since then. She may be best known in the NVC community for co-creating the NVC Dance Floors with Bridget Belgrave. This innovative method for sharing and practicing NVC is now translated into seven languages - http://www.nvcdancefloors.com.

Gina continues to share NVC internationally, and introduced NVC to Australia, Singapore and New Zealand. She is an experienced assessor for certification with CNVC, and has trained on previous IIT's both with and without Marshall. From 2007 to 2012 Gina was a trainer with the NVC Training Institute, collaborating with Robert Gonzales and Susan Skye, offering in-depth residential retreats "Living Energy of Needs" worldwide. www.ginalawrie.co.uk

Robert KrzisnikTrainer: Robert Krzisnik, MS c. Psych:
Robert has been working for 27 years with individuals and groups as psychotherapist, trainer, team coach, complex meeting facilitator and conflict mediator in a wide spectrum of environments: from corporate to educational to personal and spiritual retreats. While all his work is infused with the spirit and the approach of Nonviolent Communication, he is also a dedicated practitioner of Art of Hosting practices, and an explorer of inter-cultural communication. In Nonviolent Communication he is most passionate about its spiritual aspects, as well as its use in conflict mediation (between individuals, within groups and between groups). He has shared NVC on IITs, retreats, and workshops throughout Europe and in the US, Mideast and Asia. Since his early teenage years, Robert has been eagerly exploring the spiritual realms of Self and the Whole, as well as existential questions of life, through numerous inward journeys and travels around this wonderful world. He is also an eager practitioner of Contact Improvisation, which he sees as a form of embodied NVC. He lives in Slovenia, a small country in Europe, which used to be a part of a country that does not exist anymore, but still resides in his heart—Yugoslavia. His website: www.humus.si/en Robert has given two TEDx talks, connected with Nonviolent Communication, one in 2012 on Global Citizenship, and the other in 2013 on Personal Growth.

Monica ReuTrainer: Monica Reu:
Monica started her work life as an English teacher, following her graduation from the Foreign Languages and Literature Section of Bucharest University. Not finding a lot of joy in her job and not knowing what to do about it at the time, she soon moved to working in television and then to writing, and so she became a permanent contributing editor for a famous women's magazine that shall remain unnamed. She thought she'd found her dream job. At the age of 27, successful and yet unhappy, she started on a long journey of self-discovery and self development, delving into holotropic breathwork, Zen meditation, the ESPERE communication model, family constellations and ultimately Nonviolent Communication. And then there was light. She came across NVC in 2003, and in the first two years of learning and applying the process in her own journey to better understand herself and the people close to her, she organised courses for experienced CNVC trainers, translated NVC books into Romanian and brought Marshall to Bucharest. By that time, it was clear for her that this is what she wanted to do for a living, so she started on a deeply fulfilling certification process with the CNVC. In 2007, she founded the Romanian Association for Nonviolent Communication, an organisation providing training for businesses, schools, organisations and open groups. For the past ten years, she has mainly been supporting parents and children in building deep connection to each other in her conviction that raising children can also be a constant process of learning and healing for the parents. One of her most demanding and rewarding pieces of work is within a Moldovan NGO, helping foster parents understand and consciously respond to the needs and sometimes challenging behaviours of the children they have in their care. Soon after she initiated her Education through Empathy Program, she was asked to adapt it for schools, and as a result she has been providing NVC training for teachers in various educational institutions throughout Romania. Passionate about the Montessori teaching philosophy and also Alfie Kohn's work, she studied the first in an AMI training and co-organised three conferences of the latter in Bucharest. She is regular contributor in various TV and radio shows on parenting. She is living in Romania with her husband, daughter and dog, and the occasional mouse that comes from the basement of their apartment building."

Running engaging meetings that people enjoy participating in.
Making decisions in a way that is both inclusive and effective.
