Over-the-Air Updates - Real Market Emergence Automotive over-the-air (OTA) updates continue to press forward and are being implemented over a wider variety of automobiles. The industry continues to be propelled by a string of acquisitions by Tier 1 suppliers as they purchase their way into this emerging market and by OEMs who have deployed vehicles capable of OTA updates. The first OTA campaigns have started to trickle into the market; for instance, with Ford updating some of its head unit systems with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There has been marked progress over the past few years when it comes to remote over-the-air software updates in automotive.
