2017 MinistrySafe Skillful Screening Training North Richland Hills Baptist Church

MinistrySafe Skillful Screening Training™
North Richland Hills Baptist Church

Summary

The SBTC has partnered with MinistrySafe to provide skillful screening training to help churches implement effective screening practices designed to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse in ministry contexts.

An effective screening process must address the risk of hiring an applicant whose motives are wrong.  Criminal background checks alone will not protect children from sexual abuse. Statistically, less than 10 percent of sexual offenders are ever criminally prosecuted because two out of three children don't report abuse until years later, if ever. As a result, over 90 percent of offenders have no past criminal conviction to check.

To address this risk, every ministry should have a system of protection in place as opposed to a single screening or training element. MinistrySafe provides state-of-the-art tools and trainings created by attorneys who litigate sexual abuse cases, staying abreast of evolving state reporting, training and screening requirements.

Topics include:

-Common misconceptions related to sexual abuse and abusers
-Abuser characteristics
-The 'grooming process' utilized by offenders
-Common 'grooming behaviors'
-Elements of an effective safety system
-Effective screening practices
-Criminal background checks
-Recognizing applicant 'high-risk' answers
-Tools and resources for reducing the risk of child sexual abuse

See http://ministrysafe.com/the-safety-system/skillful-screening/ for a detailed event description.

This training will be 10 AM to 2:00 PM with lunch provided.

The cost is $10.
