2017 November NCAB General Members Meeting and Speaker Series

Please join us November 16, 2017 for the NCAB November General Member's Meeting and Speaker Series!


Dr. Teresa Ramirez will be sharing her journey from Southern California to an Ivy League education to the NIH.  She will highlight some of the reasons that led her to research and emphasize the importance of the animal care staff's role in research.

Teresa Ramírez, Ph.D., is currently the American Society of Human Genetics/National Human Genome Research Institute (ASHG/NHGRI) Genetics and Education Fellow. She received her B.S. degree in General Biology from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 2004 and from 2004-2006, she participated in a post-baccalaureate program at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Frederick, MD. Dr. Ramirez earned a doctoral degree in Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology from Brown University in 2014 and was a post-doctoral research fellow at the National Institutes of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) from 2014-2016. She is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Chicano/as and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) for the past 17 years. She is currently the NIH SACNAS Chapter President. Dr. Ramirez is passionate about sharing her love for science and mentoring students from coast to coast. Therefore, she firmly believes in the importance of mentorship and how it can create a positive impact in the lives of others as it did on hers.
