Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY) will extend a welcome to our international guests and share his appreciation for Thoroughbred breeding and racing as a representative of Kentucky, a state with deep ties to international breeding and racing. He is also expected to acknowledge the support of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) for its membership in the Coalition for Horse Racing Integrity and its support for federal legislation involving medication reform.

Ensuring the Integrity of Racing
The biggest threat to racing integrity and its long term viability is the use of performance enhancing drugs, the lack of harmony in the medication rules among jurisdictions, and the proficiency of its testing. Moderator, Joe Gorajec, former Executive Director of the Indiana Horse Racing Commission and noted leader on racing integrity, leads a discussion on how racetracks and regulators can face this issue through the adoption of proactive security, enhanced testing, and the adoption of new legislation in the United States.
