SECME STEM Pipeline Diversity Summit, June 21-24, 2017: This three day convocation is designed for all stakeholders in K-12 STEM education to gain new insights into best-practices, research and strategies and programs to support or enhance diversity and equity STEM education locally and nationally. You will have the opportunity to network with SECME university, industry, state and district education partners, and hear from the nation’s thought-leaders in improving engagement, academic achievement and postsecondary access for minorities and girls in STEM.

Who should attend? University Engineering or STEM Outreach faculty; STEM Industry and Government representatives seeking to support and enhance STEM education; School Building Leadership; District-level Leadership (curriculum specialists and coordinators); State-level Leadership (curriculum specialists, science and math coordinators; and SECME Alumni.

Would you like to sponsor an educator? You may also SPONSOR a teacher to attend the upcoming Summer Institute. Your support is vital in enabling us to offer educators from under-served communities an opportunity to re-tool and acquire new "best practice" classroom content and teaching strategies. Any institution which supports a teacher scholarship for the Summer Institute will have their Summit registration fee waived.

Event Venue: The 2017 SECME Summer Institute and STEM Pipeline Diversity Summit will be hosted by The University of Alabama - Tuscaloosa College of Engineering. Summit events will take place both on campus and at the host hotel. The University of Alabama campus is 1 hour drive from the Birmingham Shuttlesworth (BHM) airport.

Questions & Answers

Question: What does my conference registration fee include?
Answer: Your registration fee covers all conference materials, banquets and scheduled events as outlined in the program book. All-inclusive (hotel & transportation) registration fees are available, if you prefer. Click the “fees” tab to the left to see options.
Question: What are start and end times for the Summit?
Answer: The opening meeting for the STEM Pipeline Diversity Summit is Noon Wednesday, June 21.  SECME conference rates are extended to registrants who would like to arrive on June 20.  The SECME Student Success Award Ceremony is the culminating event on Friday evening, June 23.  Saturday, June 24th  is a travel day.
Question: How far are the Hotel and University Campus from the airport?
Answer: The UA Campus is approximately 1 hour from the Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport.
Question: I will not be staying at the Host Hotel. How do I receive my conference materials?
Answer: Your conference materials will available at the Summit Registration Table in the lobby of the Hotel Capstone at the above-referenced times. You may contact the SECME office to make arrangements to receive your materials at a later time. (404) 894-3314.
Question: Are local transportation and parking provided?

Airport transfers are provided at no additional cost for "all-inclusive" registration packages. During registration there is will be an option to selection SECME provided shuttle service for a nominal fee.

Question: What is the attire for the Summit?
Answer: There is one event, The Evening of Elegance, which is semi-formal. The attire for all other STEM Summit events is business casual.
