Join the NC League of Municipalities at the 2018 Advocacy Goals Conference!

This event is where League members discuss and vote on which issues cities and towns collectively prioritize when working with the NC General Assembly and state government policy makers in the 2019-2020 legislative biennium. Register to attend so you can:

  • Represent your municipality’s positions and ideas
  • Consider important policy issues and learn how cities and towns are affected
  • Cast your municipality’s vote for League members’ 2019-2020 legislative goals
  • Network with fellow elected and appointed municipal officials

Whether your municipality is large or small, located in the east, west or in between, it’s important to share your hometown’s legislative priorities and point of view. Attend the Advocacy Goals Conference to make your voice heard and cast your municipality’s vote!

Governor Roy Cooper, Treasurer Dale Folwell, and Melodee Colbert-Keen, Past President of the NLC and Mayor of Joplin, Missouri when the terrible tornado hit the city, killing more than 160 people and causing billions in damage, will provide the welcome and discuss progress made in the wake of Hurricane Florence as well as other issues.

Disaster Response & Recovery Resource Center

During the Advocacy Goals Conference, attendees should plan to visit the Disaster Response & Recovery Resource Center next door to the conference ballroom. Disaster preparedness and response is vital to cities and towns, and we want to connect you to the resources you need. Cities and towns face a multitude of potential disasters that demand municipal response, be it hurricanes, flooding, tornadoes, fires, or other situations. Make sure your municipality is prepared before disaster strikes - the Disaster Response & Recovery Resource Center will help you know who to call, find out how to plan ahead and ask specific questions of the experts.

Municipalities, both those affected by Hurricane Florence and those that avoided her path, will be able to meet with representatives from several disaster-related organizations. Attendees can find out general information at each organization’s booth or schedule one-on-one meetings to discuss specific issues, questions and concerns related to their recovery efforts.
