Share the Journey 5K

Tuesday, September 11, 6:30 p.m. 

Join colleagues and Buffalonians for a fun 5K through downtown Buffalo. Feel the cool breeze rolling in off Lake Erie as you jog past Canalside, the Naval Park and the mouth of the Buffalo River. If you time it right, you might even catch a world-famous Buffalo sunset over the water. All proceeds from Share the Journey 5K, a celebration of migration, will support  Catholic Charities’ services for foreign-born families who’ve resettled in WNY. Visit us @ www.ccwny.org.

Service Projects

Wednesday, September 12, 2:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.

Service Project 1–Catholic Charities of Buffalo - Homebound Bags

Join your colleagues from across the ministry to assemble 800 homebound bags. The bags consist of toiletries, cleaning supplies, greeting cards, small gift, towels and other needed items for someone who does not leave home often. The bags will be distributed through their case workers or Meals On Wheels volunteers at Christmas time through the eight counties of Western New York. [Involves standing]

Transportation will be provided to Catholic Charities of Buffalo Lackawanna Office. If registering for this project please select Not Attending Concurrent Session 2 and 3.

Service Project 2–Catholic Charities of Buffalo - Dignity Kits

Join your colleagues from across the ministry to assemble dignity kits. These packages will consist of toiletries and cleaning supplies. The kits will be given to people in unfortunate circumstances, such as, individuals re-establishing homes in WNY from USA, Puerto Rico and other countries; fire victims; domestic violence victims; newly released from prison and other situations that are life-changing. The kits bring some dignity to a person in need. We distribute them daily at our eight pantries and other areas of outreach. [Involves standing]

Transportation will be provided to Catholic Charities of Buffalo Lackawanna Office.


Optional Tour: Maid of the Mist and Niagara Falls

Friday, September 14, 1:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.

Journey into the heart of one of North America’s most powerful waterfalls. Hear the thundering roar of 600,000 gallons of water falling right before your eyes. Feel the mighty rush of the mist on your face aboard the Maid of the Mist. It’s the only way to experience one of the world’s most amazing natural wonders right here in the U.S.A

A favorite Niagara Falls State Park attraction for more than 150 years, the Maid of the Mist journey begins at the Observation Tower, where guests are given a souvenir rain poncho to wear and board the double-deck Maid of the Mist tour boat. Cruise to the base of the American Falls and the majestic Horseshoe Falls and experience one of the world’s most amazing natural wonders.

Maid of the Mist Corp., a long-time friend of Catholic Charities of Buffalo, is sponsoring this tour.

(Transportation to the Park is included in the fee. Bus will depart the park at 4:00 p.m. to return to the hotels.)
