2018 FTA Compliance and Education Workshop

FTA did some outside-the-box thinking and came up with two unique features for the 2018 Compliance Workshop. But no worries — we have not forgotten why you return to the Compliance Workshop year after year. This is your forum to share best practices and to learn from your peers. You still will be exposed to new ideas and experience new ways to think about your compliance challenges, plus you can share your challenges and questions with the only other people in the world who truly understand your work — other tax agencies compliance specialists.

Now about those special features...

The first is a general session focused on TAX LAW FOR NON LAWYERS. This will be a deep-dive training session especially designed for auditors, collectors and other compliance and communications specialists at tax agencies. The session will review hand-picked Constitutional restrictions on state tax administration and trainers will explain the legal structure that defines your daily work. Currently this session is penciled in for Wednesday morning.

The second is a series of breakout sessions on Monday in which you can learn about external tools and services that are available for your shop. In a temporary break from tradition, this portion of the workshop will not be government-only.  Private sector representatives will have about 45 minutes each to share a solid overview of a product or service that has been designed to make your work more productive. FTA developed this special breakout after noticing how often your sharing phone calls included discussions about external tools such as, "What are you using to get that done? Do you know if does this, or that?" Here's your chance to find out what you've been missing. (And don't forget, you don't have to buy a service or product to learn from how it's applied.)

As always, attendees are offered an early registration discount (save $15 if you register by Feb. 16), and there is a volume discount fee. Register four persons from the same agency at the same time and the fourth person's fee will be waived. If you cannot register all four at the same time, just send an email to Darrell.Reeves@taxadmin.org and FTA will apply the free registration manually.

And finally, the best part: to maximize sharing, this is still a government-only event. Private sector individuals will be present only during the meet-and-greet reception on Sunday evening and on Monday until their presentations are finished.
