What is Global E³?

Recognizing a growing demand for internationally-experienced engineering graduates, a group of leading universities around the world established the Global E3 in 1995. Global E3 allows engineering students at member universities to enjoy a fulfilling study abroad experience.

About the Host:

  • The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has been a member of Global E3 since 2010, and the Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Professor H.C. Man, sits on the Executive Committee
  • In PolyU, there are 2 faculties participating in the Global E3 Program: the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Construction & Environment.
  • The distinguished Faculty of Engineering is comprised of 7 academic departments and offers over 50 programs to nearly 6,000 students.
  • The Faculty of Construction and Environment offers programs covering all aspects of construction: land surveying, building and civil engineering design, construction management, and repair, refurbishment, operation and management of facilities.
  • PolyU is at the leading edge of research and takes pride in dedication to service learning, work-integrated education, entrepreneurial development, and leading research centers and laboratories.
  • PolyU has partnerships with over 300 universities and facilitates a program for over 3,200 students to spend at least one month outside Hong Kong for learning experiences.
  • PolyU is working in collaboration with GE3 member City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on the agenda, so meeting attendees will have the opportunity to visit both institutions.
  • Both PolyU and CityU rank in the top 100 in the discipline of Engineering and Technology in the 2017 QS World University Ranking by Subject. The universities were ranked based on their academic reputation, employer reputation and research citations.

Registration Fee
$415 (by March 1, 2018)
$450 (after March 1, 2018)


Individuals at each institution must register separately, even if charged on the same credit card.

Cancellation Policy: All but $200 is refundable until March 15th. 

All attendees must book hotel accommodations separately. 

Guests/partners/spouses are welcome to travel to Hong Kong and can utilize the information in the pre-departure briefing to arrange their visit.  Information on tour guide services in English can be found at this link, or guests can consult their hotel for additional suggestions.

Guests are invited to participate in the Victoria Harbor dinner.  The fee is $100USD and will include coach (from the university/hotel to the pier), the Victoria Harbor cruise, and dinner.
