The biennial HAC Rural Housing Conference brings together stakeholders in the field of rural affordable housing from local nonprofits, federal agencies, Congress, state and local governments, and other industry leaders for two-and-a-half days of training, discussion and networking.
The Conference features over 40 workshops where participants will learn best practices for rural housing development, organizational management and resource development, as well as innovative approaches to housing and community development. The event also offers a pre-Conference day packed with gatherings for coalitions, associations, and working groups.
For rural nonprofits, the Conference provides an excellent opportunity to network and improve their connection to federal agencies and national nonprofit organizations. For many attendees this conference represents their sole opportunity during the year to connect with these important policy makers and experts.
The 2018 Conference theme, Building Rural Communities, emphasizes HAC’s longstanding and ongoing commitment to improving housing conditions for the poor across rural America. The theme aptly underscores the scope of HAC’s efforts not only to improve housing but also to assist broader community development throughout rural America. With a new focus on social and economic conditions impacted by housing, HAC seeks to expand its efforts beyond building housing to Building Rural Communities by improving rural America’s access to health, wealth, education and influence on policy to create stable, sustainable and healthy environments.
