2018 MForesight National Summit

Manufacturing Prosperity

It’s no secret: There are grand challenges facing American manufacturing. Beyond longstanding issues like offshoring, US manufacturing today faces systemic threats like the loss of R&D activities to foreign competitors, limited capacity to commercialize domestic research, and the general weakening of “industrial commons” and “innovation ecosystems” that took decades to build.

But the problems are not as great as the prospects.

Resurgent interest in manufacturing—across industries, across political parties, across the country—mean new investments and attention to America’s innovation and production capacities. Emerging trends and technologies—the Maker Movement, 3D printing, smart manufacturing, new knowledge-sharing platforms—are rooted in the US and promise to usher in an age of “digital and democratized” manufacturing.

How do we manage these problems and prospects? In this age of change, how can we build real prosperity? The MForesight National Summit will seek answers to the big questions facing American manufacturing

In 2018, MForesight has hit the road, conducting roundtables with thought leaders in cities across the United States, to identify bold and actionable recommendations for public and private to restore America’s manufacturing capabilities and capture the full value from our R&D investments. At this year’s summit, MForesight will unveil rich and diverse recommendations from these roundtables and explore strategies for helping them take hold. We’ll also hear from some of the nation's foremost manufacturing experts, business leaders, and decision-makers about strategies for creating and sustaining manufacturing jobs, preserving our innovation edge, and maintaining global manufacturing leadership.

Now in its third year, the MForesight National Summit is a unique one-day event that attracts a diverse range of leading thinkers focused on the future of American manufacturing. We hope you can join us.
