He currently manages PGE’s corporate insurance and self-insurance programs as well as oversees all liability claims. He is also responsible for reviewing contractual agreements to determine the appropriate allocation of risk. Before PGE, J.P. spent eight years on the insurance broker side working for various companies.

J.P. earned his Bachelor of Science from Portland State University, and currently holds his CPCU, ARM, and AIC designations.

I retired in 2016, after 25 years, the last 16 years in homicide, as the Homicide Sergeant. I became the Criminal Justice Division’s Special Agent in Charge, managing Special Agents in the law enforcement component of Oregon’s Dept. of Justice. I am the Director for the Oregon TITAN (Terrorism Information and Threat Assessment Network) Fusion Center, the manager for the HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Investigative Support Center and the Commander for the ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) Task Force, all housed at the Criminal Justice Division.

Heidi Bastien is Director of Risk Management at Rubio’s Coastal Grill, a casual chain known for popularizing the fish taco and delicious coastal cuisine. In her capacity as Director of Risk Management, she is responsible for all areas of risk, safety, business continuity planning, litigation management and security, for over 200 restaurants in 7 states. Heidi has been with Rubio’s since 2008 and has previously held responsibilities in human resources management.

Heidi has 17 years of experience, in addition to her current role, she has held risk and human resources roles in the technology industry at Visual Sciences (formerly WebSideStory and currently owned by Adobe), as well as The Eastridge Group for temporary staffing within industries such as light industrial, construction, healthcare and distribution. Prior, she was in risk and human resources within the bottled water manufacturing and distribution industry. She holds a Bachelors in Business Management.

In Heidi’s spare time, when she is not wrestling three kids, she holds board advisory positions with risk management associations, such as FIRMA (Foodservice Industry Risk Management Association), CWC&R (California Workesr’ Compensation and Risk), Liberty Mutual Advisory Board and is a currently member of NRRDA (National Restaurant and Retail Defense Association). She has previously resided on the board NRA (National Restaurants Association) and the Employer Fraud Task Force. She is often called upon to speak nationally on a variety of risk topics.

Over 30 years of experience in corporate insurance and captives working previously as Head of Captive Programs for Zurich Insurance and AON's Captive Consultants. First with XL as NY-Manager & East Coast Marketing Manager XL-Global and XL-Winterthur International. Prior, Steve worked at MARSH-NY as SVP in the Global Services Group. Beginning his career at ARM/IRMG, part of The Reiss Organization & SwissRe - Mr. Reiss and company are credited with early adaption of captive insurance company concept.
Bauman has coordinated business in over 60 countries, traveling to more than 45 countries-spanning six continents with expertise in corporate (re)insurance, captive programs for large national and multinational corporations and various loss retention mechanisms.
He serves the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA), as a member of the Board of Directors and Legislative Committee and formally Board of Directors for International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE).

Ward Ching is Managing Director – Western Region, Global Risk Consulting located in San Francisco, California. He is primarily responsible for Captive and Insurance Management Services, Domicile Management, and supports a variety of Aon Management Consulting Services to clients. Ward is also part of Aon’s Alternative Risk Finance Practice and Aon’s Multinational Client Council, servicing Aon’s largest international client base.

Prior to joining Aon, Ward was Vice President, Risk Management Operations at Safeway Inc. located in Pleasanton, California. His responsibilities included Enterprise Risk Management, Integrated Risk Finance, Hazard Loss Control, Environmental Compliance, Property Risk Control/Engineering and a variety of retail, distribution, and manufacturing risk management initiatives, including Safeway’s Culture of Safety. Prior to joining Safeway, Ward was a Principal at Towers Perrin and a Managing Director at Marsh. In 2018, Ward will be teaching Risk and Insurance Management as Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business.

Ward is a frequent author and speaker on the subjects of Strategic and Enterprise Risk Management, the use of NextGen analytics, and structured risk finance. He has been working closely with a number of research and business organizations, such as the Risk and Insurance Management Society and several University Business Schools to investigate and report on complex enterprise risk issues, methods and solutions.

Ward is Adjunct Professor of Management in the Marshall Business School at the University of Southern California, teaching Insurance and Risk Management courses at the undergraduate level.

In 2018, Ms. Demaret was promoted to a dual role as Chief of Staff and EVP for Carrier Development. In this role, she works with Mike Arbour, Group President, to manage Sedgwick’s global claims operations across property, casualty, disability, specialty, international and managed care and acts as a valuable resource to the wider global operations leadership team. In addition, she manages Sedgwick’s critical relationships globally with our insurance carrier partners.

Ms. Demaret joined Sedgwick in 2012. As part of her strategic development role, she was part of the team that helped complete the successful acquisition by Sedgwick of Cunningham Lindsey in April, 2018 expanding our global reach to more than 65 countries. She continues to serve on the Integration team as the two businesses combine their operations. Additionally, she has had the responsibility for overseeing carrier relationships in support of over 2,000 existing clients and in the creation of new business opportunities through expanded relationships both on the business partner and BPO business. Ms. Demaret led the team that implemented Sedgwick’s CRM System. Ms. Demaret was one of the founding members of the Sedgwick Diversity & Inclusion Council. This group is responsible for setting strategy and direction for the company in this important area. As this moves into the implementation phase, she now serves as a D&I Champion.

Elizabeth started in the insurance industry 30 years ago having worked on the carrier, broker and now claims sides of the industry. Prior to joining Sedgwick, she served as chief operating officer, multinational client services for Marsh. At Marsh, Elizabeth was responsible for growing their business with multi-national accounts through a global account relationship network. Elizabeth has also served in leadership roles for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Ltd, Near North National Group, Home Insurance Company and ACE Insurance.

Elizabeth is past Chairperson of the World Federation of Insurance Intermediaries – Ms. Demaret was the first woman to serve as the chairperson of this distinguished. She has served as both a speaker and advisory board member of Business Insurance’s Women to Watch Group as well as being a member of the inaugural class of women honored in 2006.

He has lectured on the aging workforce, knowledge transfer, succession planning, and business continuity planning for various risk management, human resource, and workers’ compensation conferences around the US.

In 2014, and again in 2017, Holden was named a Risk & Insurance All-Star by Risk & Insurance® magazine. Also in 2014 he was given the Liberty Mutual “Responsibility Leader Award” for promoting risk management around the US. In 2016 he was honored to receive a “Leading Risk Manager” award from Insurance Business America.

Patrick has a long professional history in the field of risk management, serving currently as Chief Risk Officer of Oregon State, and prior as Risk Manager for the Eugene School District. His past experience includes management of a private law firm and over a decade of high-exposure liability claims management for a large insurance company. Patrick is the current Vice-Chair of the Public Universities Risk Management and Insurance Trust (PURMIT), and has served as a Board Member for the Property and Casualty Coverage for Education (PACE). His education includes a Doctorate of Jurisprudence, a Bachelor of Science, and he is currently completing his thesis for a Masters of Public Administration, centered on organizational culture’s effect on the successful implementation of Enterprise Risk Management programs.

Laura has over 20 years of risk management experience. She started her career as a Casualty Underwriter with AIG where she worked in Boston, New York and Paris, France. From 2001 to 2007, Laura was the Director of Risk Management and Assistant Treasurer at Genentech, Inc., a leading biotechnology firm acquired by Roche. Leona joined Aon Risk Services in 2001 as a Product Development Consultant in the Los Angeles office and moved into the Financial Services Group (FSG) as a Broker in 2002. In October of 2002 Leona was transferred to Bermuda on secondment as a wholesale broker for the Professional Lines team. Leona joined Aon (Bermuda) Ltd. full time in July 2003 as a Broker in the Professional Lines Team responsible for the placement of Directors & Officers Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Errors & Omissions coverage, Employment Practices Liability, Cyber Liability and Wage & Hour coverage for Fortune 1000 clients and large law firms. Leona was promoted to Senior Vice President and co-lead of Bermuda FSG in 2010, with a special focus on the Commercial Lines book of business. Dale began his career in the insurance and risk management profession in 1985, starting out as a Loss Control Engineer with Factory Mutual Engineering for 4 and ½ years, followed by a 3-year period with Protection Mutual Insurance Company as an Account Engineer in Bellevue, WA. In 1993, Dale joined Sedgwick’s Property brokerage department in Portland, OR, then in 1999 accepted the Risk Management position at WaferTech, a semiconductor company located in Camas, WA. After 3 and ½ years at WaferTech, Dale rejoined Sedgwick/Marsh as an Account Executive for another 5-year period before joining Vestas American Wind Technology as their first Risk Manager for the North American operations.

In 2013, Dale joined Erickson, Inc. (aka Erickson Air-Crane) as their first Risk Manager. While at Erickson, Dale assumed responsibilities for Legal Compliance, and in 2016, expanded his responsibilities to lead and manage the Safety Department for the company. In 2018, Dale joined DeWitt Construction, Inc. as their Risk and Safety Manager.

Dale’s earned his Professional Engineering license in Fire Protection and holds the ARM and CPCU designations. Dale has been an active participant with the OR Chapter of RIMS serving on the Board in a variety of officer positions and committees and was the Chapter President for the 2015-2016 term.

He has over 25 years of executive and senior leadership experience with organizations, such as the Cleveland Airport System, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and the former BP World Headquarters building in Cleveland, Ohio.

Edward has a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in General and Human Resources Management and a Master of Science in Business Psychology with a concentration in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience. His career as a business practitioner includes Risk Management, Human Resources Management, Safety Management, and Emergency Management. His industry experience includes the Military, Corrections, Commercial Properties, Healthcare, Aviation, Public Entity, and Maritime.

In 2009, Edward founded J. T. SALEM & Associates LLC, a parent company consulting firm that delivers strategic planning, enterprise risk, leadership coaching, and other organizational capabilities. As a writer, he has written hundreds of daily motivational articles, currently writing a series of personal development books, and paneled a subject matter article for the Airport Cooperative Research Program Synthesis with the Transportation Research Board’s under the National Academy of Science. Known to some as, “The Motivator”, Edward’s motivational speeches have inspired thousands across the world with a message of empowerment. He holds memberships with over a dozen international and national affiliations and is a philanthropist with several awareness organizations. Edward was also listed in the Who’s Who of Black Cleveland in 2012.

Furthermore, Edward served honorably in the Marine Corps for over 12 years serving twice in the Persian Gulf War, Bosnia, Cuba, The Global War on Terrorism, and travels to over 30 countries. Previously, Jonna worked as a policy analyst, a land-use planner, and a community organizer. He focuses on treasury operations, risk management, cash forecasting, foreign exchange and retirement plans.  He is currently the Portland chapter president of the Association of Financial Professionals and previously served two terms on the Millbrae (CA) School Board.  A native Oregonian, he is a holds a Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University in Business Administration and an MBA from Indiana University.  In his spare time he chases his kids to track meets, volunteers as middle school track coach and maintains a 20 acre filbert farm.

Scott has also obtained his Associate in Risk Management designation and is one of the first class of RIMS-CRMP designation holders. Scott has twenty-seven years of experience in the Insurance and Risk Management Industry, which started in 1991 in the Emergency Medical/Ambulance industry. He has held risk management positions in a number of industries, including transportation, multi-disciplinary engineering and construction, stevedoring, theaters, shopping malls, and property development and management. He currently is employed with Kilroy Realty Corporation, serving as their Vice President, Risk Management, where he is responsible for all matters risk management. Kilroy owns, operates and develops Class A commercial office buildings and mixed-use properties, and currently maintains a three-person Risk Management Department, which may continue to grow over time.

Scott currently is a member of the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Chapter of RIMS, serving since 1999. He also serves on the Membership and Chapter Engagement Committee for the RIMS Society, as well as FM Global’s Risk Management Executive Council and Sompo’s Client Advisory Council. He also serves on the Real Estate Client Advisory Council and Risk Management Advisory Panel for AIG.

He has over 30 years of experience as a surety underwriter and broker. Chad began his career with Reliance Surety Company in 1987 and held underwriting positions in the home office in Philadelphia, and in offices in Seattle and Sacramento.

Chad presently handles the surety programs for publicly traded and privately held corporations in the energy, manufacturing, construction, technology, pharmaceutical, environmental, and waste hauling industries.

Chad has given formal presentations on surety related topics to many construction trade associations and Risk & Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS) Chapters, as well as insurance companies, banks, law firms and accounting firms. He has authored numerous articles and publications, including the popular books Commercial Surety for Dummies and International Surety for Dummies.

Chad obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Virginia. He is a Past District Governor for his Rotary District and serves on the Rotary Youth Exchange Committee. The father of five children, Chad and his wife Jennifer reside in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. In his precious free time, Chad is a fly fisherman, a skier, and a cheese enthusiast.

Xiaoxiao grew up in Beijing, China and moved to the States when she was 17. Since, she's lived in Miami, LA, Chicago, New York and recently relocated to the Bay Area. Xiaoxiao obtained her undergraduate degree in marketing from University of Southern California and her MBA degree in innovation and strategy from Northwestern University. Xiaoxiao is passionate about youth development and is a board member of a non-profit organization dedicated to youth empowerment. In this position, Wade has been involved in major disaster restoration projects following regional and national catastrophic events, including Superstorm Sandy, Freeze 2016 in the Pacific Northwest, Hurricane Harvey, Irma, Maria and the most recent fires in Santa Rosa, CA.

Wade also leads the Western Regional Sales team. She has a proven track record of fostering trust with clients and ensuring that the highest levels of customer service are provided to all of her accounts. Her career accomplishments include being named BELFOR “Sales Person of the Year” for two years in a row.

Prior to joining BELFOR in 2010, Wade earned a Master’s in Education degree from Southern Oregon University and taught elementary school in Southern Oregon for nine years.

Steve Walti is the Risk and Land Manager for NW Natural located in Portland Oregon. NW Natural is a natural gas utility for southwest Washington and western Oregon with gas storage operations in Mist Oregon and Gill Ranch California. Steve joined NW Natural in 2005 managing the insurance, claims, easement right of way procurement, real property procurement, property leasing as well as gas storage and mineral leasing for the company. He provides risk management guidance; insight and builders risk analysis for the gas transmission pipeline, gas storage, facilities, telecommunications and service business units.

Prior to NW Natural, Steve created and was president of the insurance business unit for a national real estate company. He earned his insurance broker license, real estate principal broker licenses, worked as pipeline siting hydrologist in Alaska and Texas and ran a mining company in South America. His formal education included undergraduate geology and geography degrees and his graduate studies were in hydro-geomorphology.

Prior to joining Columbia, Cameron worked as an account executive for Aon Risk Insurance Services West.  While there he managed a client based book of business and coordinated the services of a global team to service each client’s insurance brokerage, claims, and risk control needs. 

Cameron spent 10 years working for Nike, Inc., where he was responsible for managing their global risk control and risk financing functions.  In addition, Cameron was Vice President of Nike’s insurance captive, managing the annual budget, monthly financial statements, taxes, and claims management functions of the captive.

Prior to Nike, Cameron served as the Risk Manager for the City of Gresham, Oregon, and as a Risk/Claims Analyst for Metro.

Cameron received his Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Oregon State University, and an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) from the American Institute of CPCU.

Julie Yount is the Insurance Program Manager at Puget Sound Energy based out of Bellevue, WA. She joined PSE in March 2016, where she manages their property, casualty, professional and construction insurance and surety bonds procurements. Julie works with a wide variety of business units within the organization to manage contractual risk through review and analysis of indemnification and insurance provisions. She provides general risk management support for electric and natural gas service divisions, a diverse portfolio of power generation plants, real estate and right-of-way groups, and recreation facilities, among other functional areas.

Before PSE, Julie worked for a public utility district in central Washington for 11 years where she managed their insurance program, risk and claims unique to a hydroelectric power producer and electric transmission and distribution utility. Julie earned her ARM in 2009 and currently serves on the Washington RIMS board.
