    Gender Specific Needs of Women in Treatment  (Day 1 AM breakout)
    Women of child-bearing age and pregnant women require special consideration for effective substance abuse treatment that also considers the well-being of future children. This presentation will address the specific needs of women in the context of substance abuse treatment, in particular the need to coordinate care with primary and prenatal care providers. This presentation will also include guidelines for the use of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) during the perinatal period. Objectives: 1. Gain an understanding of the unique needs of women in the context of substance abuse treatment and recognize the value for coordinated care. 2. Learn about guidelines for the use of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) during the perinatal period. 3. Appreciate the role that appropriate care of women plays in the health of families and communities
