Transportation to/from the Community Service site is provided.

Buses will be staged at the T Street entrance of the Washington Hilton.

Plan to arrive at the bus 15-20 minutes prior to the time listed.  

Stated project times include travel to/from the Community Service site.

    Stoddard Baptist Global Care

    Stoddard Baptist Global Care is a nursing home in Washington, DC.  Volunteers will have the opportunity to create a very special day for residents by visiting and interacting with them in various settings at the facility.

    Volunteer activities may include:

    • Assisting nursing staff with breakfast duties (passing and collection of trays)
    • Keeping residents company while they’re enjoying breakfast
    • Engaging residents in a variety of interactive exercises and games

    City Year - Deanwood Recreation Center

    We are partnering with City Year to beautify the historic Deanwood neighborhood in Northeast, Washington, DC.

    THIS SITE IS IDEAL FOR THOSE WHO NEED SEDENTARY DUTIES

    Activities include:

    • Kit assembly
    • No-sew blanket
    • A resource fair will take place from 11-2pm

    Water and light refreshments will be served on-site.

    We are partnering with City Year to beautify the historic Deanwood neighborhood in Northeast, Washington, DC.

    Activities include:

    • Light Construction
    • Painting Walls
    • Building Bookshelves

    Water and light refreshments will be served on-site.

    First Baptist Church of Glenarden

    AFL-CIO is partnering with the First Baptist Church of Glenarden in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday. Together, we will go beyond discussing issues and become the solution by serving the community in a number of ways.

    This project is ideal for those who need sedentary volunteer opportunities

    AFL-CIO Volunteers will have an opportunity to:

    • Pack-a-Purse of hygienic needs
    • Makes Sandwiches and Write Notes
    • Create No-Tie Fleece Blankets

    All of which will be sent to women's shelters, schools and foster homes in Prince George's County.

    Veterans on the Rise

    Veterans on the Rise (VOTR) is an organization that provides a wide variety of services and support to homeless veterans in the Washington DC area.

    Volunteer activities may include:

    • Preparing and serving breakfast to veterans
    • Painting the VOTR Empowerment Center, a multipurpose space used daily by veterans.
