Program: This International Intensive Training (IIT) is a 9-day, Nonviolent Communication “immersion experience.” It is a residential workshop led by a team of experienced CNVC certified trainers.

Discover a way of seeing life that will help you to deepen your inner peace, improve the quality of your relationships, and increase your contribution to the world! Discover how it is possible to live relationships based on compassion and empathy and learn together with other people, to express yourself from the heart, to practice listening, freed from judgments, to empower yourself inwardly!

Join us to be part of a compassionate community learning together how to speak from the heart; practice deep, nonjudgmental listening; and build self empowerment from the inside out.

This event is a 9-day residential training designed as an "immersion experience" in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) led by a team of experienced CNVC certified trainers.

The purpose is to offer you the opportunity to live the process of NVC in community over an extended period of time, in order to develop the mindsets and practical tools to help you in three areas:

1. Personal and Professional Relationships

  • Increase connection and closeness with the people you love.
  • Speak in a way that inspires compassion and understanding.
  • Initiate difficult conversations with more ease and confidence.
  • Remain centered and peaceful when receiving difficult messages.
  • Express and receive anger fully, safely and respectfully... yet powerfully.
  • Resolve long-standing conflicts and heal painful relationships.
  • Parent children from the heart and move beyond power struggles into cooperation.
  • Translate criticism, judgments and blame into life-serving messages.

2.  Inner Transformation

  • Shift patterns of thinking that lead to depression, guilt and shame and perpetuate pain.
  • Transform anger into self-understanding, thereby increasing inner peace.
  • Enliven yourself by expressing and receiving gratitude.
  • Learn to embody unconditional love.

3.  Contribution and Social Change

  • Teach others a way to increase inner peace, liberate themselves and strengthen relationships.
  • Share NVC in ways that transmit and model it’s power to transform and inspire others.
  • Create educational systems where students love learning and teachers love teaching.
  • Learn to engage in effective, lasting nonviolent social change in the tradition of Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

We intend to prioritize these three areas within the IIT curriculum and there is also room for co-creation. There will be opportunities for you to make requests for specific topics that you imagine will support you in applying NVC in these areas of your life.

You will receive much more from this IIT if you are acquainted with the basics of NVC before you come. However, if you have no previous knowledge or experience of NVC, or would like a refresher course, a foundation training will be offered during the first three or four days of the IIT.

Trainer Team:

Fabiola Fuentes

Trainer: Fabiola Fuentes (Colombia)

I am a lawyer and have a Masters in Political Science in Colombia, my country of origin. I lived in Great Britain for 11 years, where I studied Nonviolent Communication (NVC) beginning in 2001 with Marshall Rosenberg and other mentors. In 2004 I became a certified trainer.

My passion is to work with individuals who wish to contribute to making this planet a better place, healing their families, communities, workplaces, organizations, corporations, and wherever they live or work. I have done this work in different countries in England, Scotland, Sweden, Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Peru.

I have worked with individuals, groups and communities, NGOs, businesses, corporations facilitating processes to create trust, cooperation, leadership, team work, improve the quality of life and strengthen ties, applying NVC and other tools from permaculture, peoples in transition and support for the local economy and recovering the wisdom of our native peoples.

Samuel OdhiamboTrainer: Samuel Odhiambo (Kenya)

Sam is a husband and father of two children, a son and a daughter. He has been a youth coordinator and mentor since 2008. He lives in Mukuru, an informal settlement in Nairobi, Kenya.

He has been contributing to creating space for youth engagement on conflict resolution and exploring alternative strategies to power over in youth leadership within community based organizations within the informal settlement. He is passionate about sustainable youth development and peaceful coexistence within the African continent.

He has been incorporating NVC in peace building programs in Mukuru even before he embarked on his certification journey in 2013. He enjoys giving his presence voluntarily drawing from the song GIVEN TO by Ruth Bebermeyer.

Marianne SikorTrainer and assessor: Marianne Sikor (Germany)

I have been a Certified Trainer with CNVC since 2004. I have been working as a coach, mediator and workshop leader since 1998. Since 2008 I´m serving as an assessor, mainly in Germany and since 2015 also for Spanish-speaking candidates.

I´m passionate about supporting people in their growth and development processes with NVC and I love to contribute to the spreading of NVC by accompanying new trainers in their integration of NVC. To explore the dynamics of power over and power with and find partnership-ways of collaboration, even if we are taking different roles like „assessor“ and „candidate“, and to find ways to give and receive life-serving feedback as a present for learning are two of my most enriching fields of exploration as assessor.

I live in Göttingen, Germany, together with my younger daughter (16 years old). In order to enable me and many other children to grow up in an attentive and non-violent environment, I co-started the first family camp in Germany in 2002. The yearly family camps are one of my NVC-highlights.

Doug DolstadTrainer: Douglas Dolstad (USA)

is a certified trainer who lives with his wife/partner, Barbara, on his family farm on Vashon Island (Washington State, USA). He taught many IITs with Marshall and was a core member of the first IIT without Marshall in 2010. He is co-founder and host of NVC Family Camp on Vashon Island (now in its 15th year), a program which has seeded other Family Camps in the US, Israel and China.

Doug holds a degree in Human Ecology, is a musician (piano, guitar, flute) and sailor. He notes the following significant shifts over his life: Understanding and integrating the energetic difference between “going away from” and “going towards;” understanding and integrating the difference between “have to” and “get to;” understanding how intelligence changes when energy is “held” and allowed to “cook” within. Among persistently influential authors and poets, Doug cites Marshall Rosenberg, Loren Eisley, Jordan Peterson, Rumi and Mary Oliver.
