Dear Colleagues:
It’s that time of year where we ask our existing members to renew your membership in CANENA, and for others to consider joining our Council.
Prospective new members are invited to visit our website, www.CANENA.org and review what CANENA is all about. Despite the obvious economic challenge we continue to face, your CANENA work programs have continued. And in the face of this challenge, CANENA has forged ahead and led the development of an exciting and timely program for the CANENA 27th Annual General Meeting in Maria Isabel Sheraton in Mexico City, Mexico, titled: CANENA's Role in the New Regional and International Landscape.
I want to take this opportunity to inform you of two policy additions: Legal Compliance Program and Record Retention Policy. CANENA is committed to conducting business in accordance with all applicable laws and policies and to full and accurate financial disclosure. CANENA’s Legal Compliance Program applies to CANENA directors, officers and employees (if any) and sets forth policies to guide them in the performance of their duties. Such persons are not only expected to comply with applicable laws but also to act with honesty and integrity in fulfilling their responsibilities to CANENA and its members. CANENA's Record Retention Policy requires staff members to be able to state and explain CANENA policies and actions. To do so, they must preserve certain records. But constraints on office and storage space for both paper and electronic documents create a need to exercise judgment in saving records. This policy will guide CANENA staff in making decisions on specific types of documents.
In summary, your annual renewal funds CANENA and its essential operations in support of electrotechnical product safety standards harmonization between the countries of the Americas. Our commitment to you is to keep the cost low, providing an opportunity for a greater number of CANENA projects to be supported from initiation through completion. We thank you for your continuous support.I also invite each of you to continue as vocal ambassadors for CANENA and its purpose by providing examples and measures that effectively demonstrate the importance and value of your work.
I look forward to your continued support in the exciting year ahead and to seeing you in Mexico City D.F., Mexico – February 27-28, 2019!
