The Council of Faculty and Academic Societies (CFAS) provides a strong voice for academic societies and academic faculty within the AAMC’s governance and leadership structures. It is comprised of about 350 representatives appointed by member medical schools and academic societies. CFAS has disseminated AAMC advocacy sign-on letters to academic societies; actively participated in a number of AAMC meetings, workshops, and events; and published a meeting session created by CFAS as a paper in Academic Medicine. CFAS representatives have engaged in the Action Collaborative, which is sponsored by the AAMC, ACGME, and NAM, and have presented multiple sessions at the AAMC’s annual meeting along with other AAMC-sponsored seminars and professional development conferences. Additionally, CFAS has curated resources on NIH F&A issues for dissemination on aamc.org and maintained the AAMC’s “Well-Being in Academic Medicine” website. CFAS also maintains an advocacy webpage on aamc.org and has taken the lead in an ongoing effort to define faculty. The council is charged with:
