The Walmart Way: Retailer Expectations for Boxes 
Ivy Barney, Walmart 
Ivy Barney is the Senior Director of Inbound Quality for Walmart US Supply Chain, responsible for leading the strategy to transform the quality of inbound flow. In her prior role as Sr. Director of Supply Chain Services, Ivy led a team responsible for optimizing inbound transportation, distribution and reverse logistics for the Walmart US Supply Chain. Ivy joined Walmart in Store Operations in 2010, and served as Divisional Merchandise Director and Director of Innovations for the MS River Delta Division, where she led teams that provided merchandise and operational process support for all stores in Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Prior to joining Walmart, Ivy spent 11 years in Technology Consulting with Accenture, delivering enterprise technology solutions for Fortune 500 companies in the Telecommunications, Media & Entertainment industries.

Ivy earned a Master of Business Administration from the Tulane University Freeman School of Business and a B.S. in Computer Science from Hampton University. Ivy and her husband Shawn have two girls, Lucille and Marin.

People & Planet: IKEA is Going All In for a More Sustainable Future
Ulf Tillman, IKEA 
Since 2013 Mr. Tillman is working at IKEA of Sweden AB (in Älmhult, Sweden) as Project Leader in Packaging Development. Previous positions in IKEA comprise Sustainability Paper Expert and Wood Supply&Forestry Project Leader.

Before joining IKEA Mr. Tillman successfully spent more than 20 years in the Pulp&Paper Industry holding positions in R&D, Production Operations as well as Head Office Management positions in the areas of Sustainability, Energy, Environment, Health&Safety and Risk Management for SCA Packaging and DS Smith.

Mr. Tillman is of Swedish nationality and has a background of Chemical Engineering at the Lund Institute of Technology in Sweden and Pulp&Paper Technology at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Mr. Tillman was born in 1965 and is married to Anna with two children.

A Perspective on our Oceans
Eric DesRoberts, Senior Manager, Trash Free Seas® Program, Ocean Conservancy 
Eric DesRoberts is the Senior Manager of Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas Program, based in Washington, D.C. In this role, he works to empower citizen action, advance new science, and engage industry leadership to achieve the conservation goals and impacts of the Trash Free Seas program. This includes working closely with the Trash Free Seas Alliance, a collaborative group of businesses, leading environmental organizations, and academics, to leverage the power of collaborative partnerships to develop systemic solutions to ocean trash issues. Prior to working at Ocean Conservancy, Mr. DesRoberts was a Project Manager with GreenBlue’s Sustainable Packaging Coalition where he conducted research aimed at developing practical solutions, resources and opportunities to integrate sustainability into product and packaging systems. Eric holds an MS in Resource Economics and Policy from the University of Maine where he studied the economic and environmental impacts from bioplastic production and integration into packaging.

A Perspective on our Forests
Cecilia Alcoreza, Forest Manager, World Wildlife Fund  
Cecilia Alcoreza is the manager of paper sector engagement for WWF-US helping US-based companies create and reach commitments related to the responsible sourcing of paper, tissue and paper-based packaging. This work involves assessing where and what type of forest the company’s fiber comes from, developing policies to avoid the risks associated with illegally-harvested wood, and more. Cecilia also builds relationships between stakeholder NGOs and international corporations to effectively influence them in the adoption of social and environmental safeguards and responsible business practices.

Prior to joining WWF-US, Cecilia led Sustainable Paper and Packaging work in WWF’s Global Forest Practice and led WWF’s Pulp and Paper alliance for South America. Cecilia also served as head of the Forest Program in WWF Chile. Prior joining WWF, Cecilia worked in international consulting and was responsible for implementing and assessing the performance of international social and environmental standards in the forestry and mining sectors. Cecilia also served as a senior lecturer in the Swedish training program for sustainable forest management and forest certification working to train participants from western African countries. Cecilia has a bachelor’s degree in Forest Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

Paul Leclair, Numera Analytics 
Paul Leclair is a respected economist and pulp and paper market expert with more than 15 years of experience in the industry. As Vice President and Chief Economist at Numera Analytics since 2009, Paul guides the analytical function of the company. His responsibilities range from ensuring the quality of the statistical information published by the organization, to assessing supply and demand conditions, forecasting and customer service. Paul holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Economics from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC).

Neil Osment, NOA
Neil Osment has enjoyed over 20 years working for major European packaging companies in both commercial and operational roles. In 2004, he set up Neil Osment Associates (NOA) to provide practical help and support to national and multi-national packaging businesses. In turn in 2012, NOA purchased the packaging research company PRISM from Simon Southern, to broaden the support that NOA offered.

Since then NOA has been engaged by many packaging associations such as FEFCO, ECMA and ICCA as well as with private packaging clients, to offer insights on the European and Global markets for paper-based packaging. Neil recently helped host one of the ICCA webinars.

Doug Stephens, Retail and Consumer Futurist
Doug Stephens is one of the world’s foremost retail industry futurists. His intellectual work and thinking have influenced many of the world’s best-known retailers, agencies and brands including Walmart, Google, Home Depot, Disney, BMW, Citibank, and Intel. Doug is also listed as one of retail’s top global influencers by Vend.com.

Prior to founding Retail Prophet, Doug spent over 20 years in the retail industry, holding senior international roles including the leadership of one of New York City’s most historic retail chains. Doug is also the nationally syndicated retail columnist for CBC Radio and sits on the advisory boards of the Dx3 Digital Conference and the David Sobey Centre for Innovation in Retail & Services at St. Mary’s University.

His unique perspectives on retailing, business and consumer behavior have been featured in many of the world’s leading publications and media outlets including The New York Times, The BBC, Bloomberg Business News, TechCrunch, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal and Fast Company.
Plastic Packaging Concerns: The Impact to Our Industry
Saverio Mayer, Smurfit Kappa Group
After graduating in accountancy in Rome, Saverio Mayer entered the Smurfit Kappa Group at the end of the 80's as General Manager of SK Tezze & Carmignano (IT) and then of SK Asti (IT). At the end of the 90's, he became Sales & Marketing Manager for SK Italy and then Vice President Pan European Sales. From 2001 to 2015, he led SK Italy as CEO. During these years he has also been: from 2007 to 2009 CEO SK Russia, from 2007 to 2011 CEO SK Poland and as from 2011 to 2015 CEO of the Group Bag-in-Box division worldwide. In October 2015 he has been appointed COO SK Corrugated & Converting Europe and in April 2017 he became CEO SK Europe for both Paper & Board and Corrugated & Converting divisions. Since May 2018, Saverio is also Vice-President of FEFCO Association, the European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers.

Lars Engel, BHS
For more than 15 years, Lars Engel represents BHS Corrugated Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH as anchor shareholder and Managing Director. At the largest provider of corrugator solutions in the packaging industries he takes especially care for all customers concerns and strategy development. His professional career was based on the diploma in Business Administration of the University of Passau, Germany. In his school career he graduated at Kentridge High School, Kent, USA and parallel he received a German University Entrance Qualification.

Trucking in an E-Commerce World
Alan Karickhoff, American Trucking Association 
Alan Karickhoff is a Research Analyst for the American Trucking Associations (ATA), the national trade association for the trucking industry. As a Research Analyst, he assists the Chief Economist manage all of ATA's collection, analysis, and dissemination of trucking economic information. This includes several monthly trucking economic indicators, motor carrier financial and operating data, driver wage studies, weekly diesel fuel price and economic reports, and a yearly trucking almanac.

Prior to joining ATA in January, 2019, Alan was a survey statistician with the U.S. Census Bureau in Suitland, Maryland, a principal agency of the U.S. Federal Statistical System, responsible for producing data about the American people and economy.

Alan has a Master of Professional Studies degree in Applied Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA.

ISTA: Keeping Pace with Performance Demands and Evolving Retail 
A.J. Gruber, ISTA
A.J. Gruber is President & CEO of the International Safe Transit Association (ISTA), an association focused on empowering organizations and their people to minimize product damage throughout distribution and optimize resource usage through effective package design. Prior to joining ISTA as the VP Technical in 2012, Mr. Gruber spent 6 years focused on the specific concerns of transport packaging and dangerous goods at UPS where he led the development of the UPS Eco Responsible Packaging Program. His various industry activities include the Editorial Board for the Journal of Applied Packaging Research (JAPR), Packaging Industry Advisory Boards for Cal Poly State University and the Rochester Institute of Technology, AMERIPEN’s Technical Advisory Group, and Michigan State University Alumni Association Board of Directors.
