Carole Tomko is a recognized global media executive who has been managing portfolios of businesses and producing award winning content for years. As a mission-driven leader, she has launched and led networks, studios, philanthropic and content ventures. Leading consumer-facing organizations, she has built deep media and industry relationships across private and public sectors and secured financial investors and partners. She is known for her combination of creative, strategic and operational excellence, leading high-performing and matrixed teams with innovation, authenticity, and integrity. She has extensive experience working with networks, streaming services, content providers, internal and external stakeholders, boards, committees, funders, policy leaders, NGOs, and creative content partners.
Currently, Tomko is providing strategic counsel to a variety of organizations that are developing and producing social impact entertainment. She is serving as executive producer on premium series and feature documentaries with the goal of driving awareness and impact around critical issues of our time.
She held executive leadership positions at Vulcan and as General Manager and Creative Director of Vulcan Productions, she strategically shaped and developed projects across genres and platforms; increasing volume, scope, and impact of documentaries, series, digital content, campaigns and scripted programming. The body of work under her Vulcan tenure represents a wide range of substantive projects that have won over 200 industry awards at prestigious film festivals including Tribeca, Sundance and received Oscar nominations and an Emmy for Body Team 12. Her leadership brought Paul Allen’s historic expeditions from remote locations to live streamed broadcasts and specials around the USS Indianapolis and the Musashi, delivering millions of viewers for networks and news outlets.
While leading Vulcan Productions, she was appointed as interim head of both the Communications and Philanthropy divisions during corporate restructures. She launched branding and positioning efforts, optimized digital and social channels, and leveraged Vulcan affiliates. As interim Chief Philanthropic Officer, she restructured the division, streamlined investment areas, built financial models, and established impact metrics and reporting.
