Merrill Fromer
Merrill J. Fromer has more than 29 years of experience with the Internal Revenue Service as a revenue agent in the Examination Division. He began his career in Newark, New Jersey and moved to the Cincinnati, Ohio area in 1995. Mr. Fromer has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bloomfield College in New Jersey and has passed the CPA exam.

As a revenue agent, he has had an opportunity to teach individual, partnership, corporate and excise tax law to other revenue agents. His current position is Fraud Technical Advisor for Ohio. Prior to his employment with the IRS, Mr. Fromer worked as a financial analyst and cost accountant in private industry. In addition to his accounting and tax employment, Merrill runs a small beekeeping operation which includes producing and selling honey, beeswax candles, pollination services to fruit farms and honey bee removal. He has taught for over 15 years for the OSU Tax Practitioners Institutes.

John Lawrence, CPA
John Lawrence had been with the IRS in northern Ohio and southwestern Indiana for 33 years retiring in early 2006. He formerly held the positions of Internal Revenue Agent, Appeals Conferee, Supervisory Official and Team Coordinator-Supervisory Examiner of large multi-national corporations. John holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Indiana State University and his accreditations include Certified Public Accountant, Ohio and Certified Instructor – Advanced Taxation Courses, U.S. Treasury. He has extensive teaching experience with University of Akron, College of Wooster, Wayne County Career Center and the Ohio State University Income Tax Schools. Currently, John is an instructor and author for a wide range of courses for the Indiana Society of Certified Public Accountants.

John has earned numerous awards for his professional and community service including Citizen of the Year-Active 20-30 International Club of Wooster; Jaycees of Wooster Special Service Award; University of Akron Adjunct Instructor of the Year; and numerous US Treasury Department Special Achievement Awards. John is a member of AICPA and Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants as well as Indiana Society of Certified Public Accountants. He currently owns and manages a practice in his native Evansville, Indiana as well as in Sandusky and Wooster, Ohio.
Ken Liuzzo
Ken Liuzzo has more than 30 years of service with the Internal Revenue Service. During this time, Ken has worked as a Revenue Agent, an Anti-Money Laundering Coordinator, A Senior Tax Specialist, a group manager in both compliance and Taxpayer Education and Communication, and as a Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Revenue Agent.

Ken is currently a Tax Law Specialist working with the International Exchange of Information working out of the Independence, Ohio office.

Mr. Liuzzo has received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Cleveland State University. He has instructed and developed training classes within the IRS for several years covering many areas of taxation which include: anti-money laundering activities, Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act and Title 31 laws and procedures. He developed the IRM section for Taxpayer Education & Communication and has provided Stakeholder Relationship Management Training for IRS personnel.

Melinda Garvin, EA
Melinda is a tax professional at Foos Garvin Accounting, LLP. in Ohio and has 30+ years of experience serving individual and businesses tax needs.

Melinda has been an instructor for National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) for over 10 years and has served in the past on the Ohio NATP Chapter Board as the Education Director. Melinda has also been a presenter at the IRS Nationwide Tax Forums and instructed various tax classes for Ohio State University, Ohio State Bar Association, State Chapters of NAEA and local organizations.

Melinda’s instructor specialty is in Ethics and Securing Tax Offices; so, to further encourage tax professionals in office ‘best practices’, she authored the manual “Audit Proof the Tax Office” and has since then published a second manual called “Best Practices for the Tax Office”. Melinda has a strong aspiration to support the tax professional’s many sides of interactions with clients, IRS and the always needed education.
LaTanya Bacon
LaTanya is Senior Stakeholder Liaison in the Cleveland area. As a Tax Specialist, she partners with tax professionals, small business organizations, and other government agencies to develop and deliver educational products and services to the small business community in Northeast Ohio. LaTanya has 30 years of IRS experience. LaTanya has a Bachelor’s degree from Central State University, emphasizing in business administration.
Dennis Bell
Dennis Bell is a Senior Tax Specialist. He partners with tax professionals, small business organizations, and other government agencies to develop and deliver educational products and services to the small business community in Ohio.

Dennis began his IRS career as a customer service representative in the former Pittsburgh District in 1989. Before coming to Stakeholder Liaison he was a Revenue Agent with the Tax-Exempt and Government Entities division where he worked in Employee Plans. He joined Stakeholder Liaison in July of 2001.Dennis holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Robert Morris University.
John Linstead
John H Linstead is a Senior Stakeholder Liaison with the Internal Revenue Service, Office of Stakeholder Liaison Field in Cincinnati.
Chris Bruynis
Chris Bruynis has worked for OSU Extension since 1994. He serves as an Area Leader providing administrative oversight for five county Extension offices. He also serves as the Agriculture and Natural Resource Extension Educator for Ross County, located in Chillicothe.

Chris received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a Minor in Economics and Business Administration from Wilmington College, and his Masters of Science in Agriculture Economics and Doctorate in Human and Community Resource Development in 2007 from OSU.

Chris’ specialization is farm business management focused in the areas of farm policy, business planning, tax management, and risk management topics. Chris is also involved in providing leadership to the Ohio Ag Lenders Seminars, as well as state co-coordinator for Annie’s Project programs focused on business management for farm women. He has been working with the OSU Income Tax School Program since 2011.
Dave Marrison
David Marrison has worked for OSU Extension since 1997 and began this year as the Agricultural and Natural Resources Extension Educator for Coshocton County. Prior to that he served in the same capacity in Ashtabula County.

Dave received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education and Agricultural Economics from OSU and a Master’s Degree in Education from Purdue University in 1992. He is nationally known for his teaching in farm succession planning and has authored numerous publications in succession and estate planning. David received OSU Extension’s highest honor when he received the 2007 Excellence in Extension Award. David has been working with the OSU Income School Program since 2010 and is a Registered Tax Return Preparer.
Barry Ward
As Director of the Income Tax School Program, Barry Ward provides leadership for the development and execution of the department’s courses. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics from OSU. Barry also provides managers of agricultural production businesses with tools, information, and analysis to help make management decisions.

Ward rejoined OSU Extension after 11 years in the Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics. He was appointed Income Tax School Director in 2016.
