The event has a reduced, locally adjusted rate for residents of Spain, Portugal & Latin America.

Program: Discover skills that will help you improve the quality of your relationships, deepen your inner peace, and increase your contribution to the world.

Join us as part of a compassionate community learning together how to speak from the heart; practice deep, non-judgmental listening; and build self empowerment from the inside out.

This event is a 9-day residential training designed as an "immersion experience" in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) led by a team of experienced CNVC certified trainers.

The purpose is to offer you the opportunity to live the process of NVC in community over an extended period of time, in order to develop the mindsets and practical tools to help you in three areas:

1. Personal and Professional Relationships

  • Increase connection and closeness with the people you love.
  • Speak in a way that inspires compassion and understanding.
  • Initiate difficult conversations with more ease and confidence.
  • Remain centered and peaceful when receiving difficult messages.
  • Express and receive anger fully, safely and respectfully... yet powerfully.
  • Resolve long-standing conflicts and heal painful relationships.
  • Parent children from the heart and move beyond power struggles into cooperation.
  • Translate criticism, judgments and blame into life-serving messages.

2. Inner Transformation

  • Shift patterns of thinking that lead to depression, guilt and shame and perpetuate pain.
  • Transform anger into self-understanding, thereby increasing inner peace.
  • Enliven yourself by expressing and receiving gratitude.
  • Learn to embody unconditional love.

3. Contribution and Social Change

  • Teach others a way to increase inner peace, liberate themselves and strengthen relationships.
  • Share NVC in ways that transmit and model it’s power to transform and inspire others.
  • Create educational systems where students love learning and teachers love teaching.
  • Learn to engage in effective, lasting nonviolent social change in the tradition of Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

We intend to prioritize these three areas within the IIT curriculum and there is also room for co-creation. There will be opportunities for you to make requests for specific topics that you imagine will support you in applying NVC in these areas of your life.

You will receive much more from this IIT if you are acquainted with the basics of NVC before you come.

Seminar Language: English, with Spanish translation.

Trainer Team:

sabine geigerTrainer: Sabine Geiger (Germany)

Sabine Geiger has been leading workshops all over the world for 30 years, to support people on their path to freedom and choice. She came in contact with NVC in 1998 and started teaching soon after that. As a certified trainer and assessor for CNVC, she promotes a community-based certification approach.
To Sabine, NVC is a journey of the heart: ”When I crossed paths with Marshall Rosenberg in 1998, I was amazed. How could anyone describe my inner processes so accurately, without ever meeting me?! The empathic, curious and open heart has always seemed natural to me. Discovering NVC and passing it on to others has immensely enriched my life.”
Since Sabine recognizes conflict as an invitation to learn more about others, exploring and sharing restorative approaches has become an important part of her teaching.
Her passion? Tapping into the wisdom of the body while using the framework of the NVC process. How can we explore body sensations and link them to our feelings and needs? To Sabine, this is an ongoing exploration, which you are kindly invited to join.

Helen Adamson

Trainer: Helen Adamson (Spain)

Originally from Berkeley, California, I have been living near Barcelona, Spain for more than 35 years.

I have been learning and practicing NVC since 2003. I started teaching NVC in 2007, and a few years later began focusing full time on sharing NVC, switching over from my former career as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language. I have actively participated in creating community and encouraging collaboration among NVC practitioners and trainers in Catalonia and the rest of Spain. I have been a member of the *Asociación para la Comunicación NoViolenta* (ACNV) since its inception in 2009, acting as president of the board for one year.

Currently, my main activity as a trainer is through the *Programa Anual de Convivencia de CNV*, which I co-founded in 2013; in the program, groups of participants from all over Spain come together for several residential trainings per year over the space of up to three years. I also offer mentoring sessions for people seeking certification as NVC trainers.

I aim as a trainer to support participants in trusting more and more that they matter and in relaxing more and more into interdependence, freely offering and giving, requesting and receiving with openness and joy. I like to think that my work contributes a ‘little grain of sand,’ as we say in Spanish, to the emergence of a culture of collaboration and of care for ourselves, for each other, and for all life on our precious planet. My website is www.compartirlacnv.com

David WeinstockTrainer: David Weinstock(USA)

I am an international trainer of Nonviolent Communication, a Somatic Coach, Aikido instructor, and master goldsmith. My recent book, “Becoming What You Need" and the work that I've developed and present called Somatic Consensus, offer a unique mind/body approach for embodying the art NVC. I lead workshops locally and around the world to a diverse audience of people seeking to connect with the wisdom of the body, deepen their relationships, and find their voices in this rapidly changing world.

Woven into my programs are the time-honored lessons of mastery and conflict resolution distilled from the peaceful art of Aikido. I share practices that include the less-emphasized nonverbal realm in which the majority of communication occurs. NVC as a somatic practice synchronizes language, emotion, and action to support a meaningful life that is deeply felt.

My wife, Judith, and I raised our two sons, within an intentional community that we co-founded with 8 other families where consensus and NVC have been practiced since 1990. All of our work--in particular our present organization, Liminal Somatics (Liminal Somatics) is dedicated to reclaiming the gifts of community, deepening our connection to one another and stewarding the earth for the sake of securing a more nurturing world for generations to come.

Roxy ManningTrainer:Roxy Manning(USA)

Roxy is a Certified Trainer with the CNVC, has been co-leading BayNVC's Leadership Program since 2008. A passionate champion of social justice, she brings NVC to her work as a licensed clinical psychologist serving the homeless population in San Francisco, NY, and has volunteered and supported groups around the world interested in causes from LGBTQ rights to equity and transformation of social structures related to race, ethnicity and social class.

Roxy uses her own experiences as an Afro-Caribbean immigrant in the United States, a clinician who has worked intensively with couples and families, and a consultant to businesses and organizations to deliver trainings that are attuned to the needs of participants with diverse interests.

She combines vulnerability and transparency with a delight in explaining the nuances of this work that results in deep appreciation and learning in those who experience her modeling and clarity.

Jardin Mariposa

Jardin MariposaA place to renew and transform

Mariposa Garden is an earthly paradise in Tenerife one of the Canary Islands with their warm “eternal spring” climate, where you can enjoy a "Vacation for your Body, Mind and Soul". It has stunning views of the sea and an imposing mountain, the non-active volcano Teide. It is a place for human beings who are open to live a life experience with themselves and with others.

As the venue is built on a cliff, from the main training spaces, from the dining room, and many rooms you can contemplate the sea and the sky. There is a lot of air and light to enjoy the connection with others, yourself and nature.

Jardín Mariposa has 3 spectacular training rooms with panoramic views for group sessions and individual sessions and its "Garden of Life®" designed for introspection. As well as the training rooms, there are several workspaces both indoor and outdoor.

The bedrooms are warm, cozy and unique (rooms from 1 to 4 people with their own bathroom and wooden houses for 2), many of them have very good views, all of them plenty of natural light.
There are wood cabins as well as single, double rooms with either one double bed, two single beds or triple rooms.

The kitchen at Jardín Mariposa
We know how important a healthy and balanced diet is. For this reason in Jardin Mariposa they pay special attention to the quality of the food, using mostly fresh, organic, seasonal products. Many ingredients are sourced from their own garden.
The food is vegetarian, with an equally satisfying vegan option, and they can cater for food intolerances and allergies.

Places to visit

Awesome Teide
Very present in the views of the Jardin Mariposa, the Teide is the highest mountain in Spain and considered an energetic point of connection between earth and sky. As a volcano it is one of the most famous places to visit on all the islands. Although it is seen directly from the Jardin Mariposa, it takes about one hour to get there. With good weather they say that you can see all the canary islands from the top. It is part of the Teide National Park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Puerto de la Cruz
La Matanza is located between Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Puerto de la Cruz. Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife, with its opera and its famous beach "Las Teresitas" with its Sahara sand is only 25 min from the Jardin Mariposa.
Puerto de la Cruz, with its famous "Loro Parque" and the "Lago Martiánez", is just 20 min away, and in 45 minutes you can get to Anaga National Park which includes the oldest forest on the island .

It is worth visiting all the other islands. Most easily reachable from Tenerife are the smaller, unspoiled islands of La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro by boat. There is also the neighboring island of Gran Canaria about 1.5 hours away by boat. It has a unique natural environment and offers a variety of leisure and cultural activities.

By air:
There are two airports in Tenerife: North ("Los Rodeos", 15 min away) and Sur ("Reina Sofia",50 min away). Jardín Mariposa offers a pick-up service for a reasonable price that can be coordinated once your place is confirmed. If you decide to rent a car we will provide you with detailed information about how to get there once your place has been confirmed.
By sea:
There are different ferries from Gran Canaria (they take between 1.5 and 3 hours). The ferry from the Spanish mainland takes 2 days.

Please wait for a confirmation before booking travel arrangements.
