"Communicating with editors, your peers and your parents"

Do you want to learn how to communicate your scientific research so that your mom understands?  Do you want to write the scientific abstract that always gets the travel award? Have you learned how to engage your peers in your research? What do editors really want? 

The Scientific Communications workshop is an exciting afternoon of communicating your research simply and effectively to your peers, the public, granting agencies, and future employers. Discuss and learn methods from our expert panelists to improve your scientific abstract, scientific works and how you talk about them during your poster presentation. Trainees will exercise effective communication of scientific discoveries to highlight the impact of their research to the larger community. In addition, trainees will have the opportunity to present their research simply and obtain expert feedback on their own scientific abstract to help promote their career success. This half-day workshop on science communication will help prepare trainees for their exciting careers ahead.

Scientific Innovation

The Scientific Innovation workshop provides trainees with an excellent opportunity to learn how discoveries are translated from the bench to the bedside. In this workshop, trainees will experience how industry and academia (basic research and clinical translation) inform decision making and structure their research to bring innovation to life. Join our six experts in open discussions and guided case studies to critically analyze current technological advancements. Learn how your transferable skills can be applied to these exciting arenas and how they are valued across multiple platforms. Trainees will familiarize themselves with how each sector translates scientific discovery into innovative treatments and products, giving them a platform to jump-start their own career exploration. Join us for a rewarding half-day of innovation, exploration and scientific discovery!
