Dare you to Move: HFMA National Update
You’ve been dared! This is a critical time in health care as the legacy industry is being challenged by changing wants, needs, and economics. Such changes make it crucial for those of us who work in the industry and want to make a difference to find something uncomfortable and start doing it now. We need to get in the arena. The dissonance of where we are and where we could be is not going to fix itself. The healthcare cost problem isn’t going to fix itself. It’s time we not only identify how we -- individually and collectively -- might bridge that gap but also to actually move on it. Learning Objectives: After this session, attendees will be able to: • Discuss sources of tension between where we are--as individuals and as an industry--and where we could be. • Identify steps to address the elephant in the room and break the “cult of perfect.” • Describe current HFMA initiatives designed to help finance professionals succeed in their efforts to get moving and make a difference in today’s healthcare industry. Kurt Swersky Memorial BBQ sponsored by Wakefield & Associates
    Mynatt Park
The annual Kurt Swersky Memorial BBQ will be held in a new location this year at Mynatt Park 634 Asbury Lane, Gatlinburg, TN 37738 (bottom of the hill next to the hotel) . This Annual BBQ is hosted by Gregg Swersky and Wakefield & Associates in honor of a Gregg’s brother Kurt. Kurt was a dedicated and passionate member of TN HFMA when he passed away in December 1990. Kurt was active in the chapter and had served on many committees and Fall Institute planning committees before his passing. From an article in an early 1991 edition of the Volunteer Voice, “Kurt will always be remembered for the outdoor barbecue cook-outs that he frequently organized and sponsored at our Fall Institute. The warm and friendly atmosphere of those events was exemplified by Kurt's own personality.” Past President, Curtis Curley stated: “When I was HFMA president I always knew that Kurt could be relied upon to help in any way he could. The Tennessee Chapter has not only lost a valued and dedicated member, we have lost a friend.” Gregg continues this tradition in honor of Kurt. Please join in for lots of good food, fun, and fellowship.
