Welcome to the Baja Conference ACDA website!

The CSU Long Beach Department of Dance invites faculty/staff, students, and musicians to participate in Baja at the Beach, the American College Dance Association’s Baja Conference, March 4-7, 2020.  As we complete 25 years in the spacious and upgraded CSULB Dance Center and begin our celebration of the upcoming 50th anniversary of CSULB Dance, we invite you to move, create, share, investigate, and take risk during Baja at the Beach.  Through four days of classes, workshops, Adjudication and Informal Concerts, feedback sessions, scholarly presentations, faculty-only classes, screendance presentations, exciting social events for students and faculty/musicians, and a celebratory Gala Concert in the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, we hope to engage each participant in a safe and welcoming environment that continues to promote the unity and artistic exchange consistent in our Baja region.  Keep your eyes open for updates about the following unique opportunities for specially-chosen students from participating schools:  a Dance Criticism/Writing Intensive with choreographer and L.A. Dance Chronicle writer Jeff Slayton, a Costume Design Intensive with CSULB Costume Designer Kelsey Vidic, and the return of the Informal Student Caucus, an opportunity for one dancer from each participating school to curate a special performance of dances chosen from the Informal Concerts.  The CSULB student Production Assistants will work all fall semester designing and producing Baja at the Beach and look forward to welcoming you to the sixth ACDA conference held on the CSULB campus.

We encourage you to look through all pages on this website. Details on conference opportunities, including performances, guest artists and more can be found on the pages under CONCERTS+ on this website.  ACDA policy and informational documents, including "ACDA Regional Conference Policies For Participants," can be found on the ACDA website > FOR CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS: Documents & Downloads.

Conference attendance is open to ACDA members and non-members, although only members may register during the member priority period and only institutional members may present work in adjudication concerts. Additionally, members pay a discounted registration fee. If you or your institution has not yet joined ACDA as an Individual or Institutional Member, we urge you to do so to receive the benefits of membership and to help further the important work ACDA does for college and university dance programs. Visit ACDA's membership page for more information.

While we would like to accommodate all who wish to attend our Baja at the Beach, space is limited and registration fills quickly. Please note details about limits and timetables in the REGISTRATION pages on this website. You can track available spaces at the bottom of this page.

From all of us at CSULB Dance, we look forward to hosting you at Baja at the Beach, March 4-7, 2020.

Go Beach!

Sylvia Rodriguez-Scholz, Conference Co-Coordinator
