Western Michigan University invites faculty and students to participate in the American College Dance Association's East-Central Conference, Feb 29 - Mar 3, 2020, in Kalamazoo, MI  Our conference will be an exciting celebration of dance in higher education. The conference schedule will include a wide variety of master classes, scholarly research presentations, opportunities for student and faculty exchanges in and out of the studio, adjudication and informal concerts, feedback sessions and a Gala Concert. We will also have a guest performance by Giordano Dance Chicago and Peridance will be hosting auditions for their summer programs. We are also planning for special faculty seminars and workshops and other opportunities for faculty development.

The 2020 ACDA East-Central Conference will be guided by the theme: A Time For Dance. Dance is inherently ephemeral, existing only in the moment of performance, but in that instant is the embodiment of human expression, vulnerability, and purpose.  To dance is to connect, to use the human body as a medium of conversation, dancer-to-dancer and dancer-to-audience. Dance brings people together and we can imagine no greater time to value connection and understanding between people. Now is a time to answer fear with joy, combat anger with purposeful energy, sorrow with beauty, and frustration with works that prompt thought and reflection -- now is a time for dance.

We encourage you to look through all pages on this website. Details on conference opportunities, including performances, guest artists and more can be found on the pages under CONCERTS+ on this website.  ACDA policy and informational documents, including "ACDA Regional Conference Policies For Participants," can be found on the ACDA website > FOR CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS: Documents & Downloads.

Conference attendance is open to ACDA members and non-members, although only members may register during the member priority period and only institutional members may present work in adjudication concerts. Additionally, members pay a discounted registration fee. If you or your institution has not yet joined ACDA as an Individual or Institutional Member, we urge you to do so to receive the benefits of membership and to help further the important work we do for college and university dance programs. Visit ACDA's membership page for more information.

While we would like to accommodate all who wish to attend our conference, space is limited and registration fills quickly. Please note details about limits and timetables in the REGISTRATION pages on this website. You can track available spaces at the bottom of this page.

All of us at Western Michigan University look forward to seeing you at the conference.
