Welcome!

Middlebury College and the University of Vermont invite faculty and students to participate in the American College Dance Association's New England Conference, March 25-28, 2020, in Middlebury, Vermont (on the Middlebury College campus!) Our conference will be an exciting celebration of dance in higher education.

As co-hosts, the students and faculty at Middlebury College and UVM are capitalizing on a strong relationship between the dance programs at our respective institutions and using a unique model in the way ACDA conferences can be mounted. The 2020 ACDA New England Conference will be guided by the theme: Network in Motion. As you know, networking and collaboration are essential to the field of dance. We have collaborated often, but we are hoping that this conference, our biggest collaboration to date, will serve as an example for what we can achieve together. We also hope to create an atmosphere where students and faculty and find each other, establish connections, and build future plans based on the moving networks we create.

The conference schedule will include a wide variety of master classes, scholarly research presentations, opportunities for student and faculty exchanges in and out of the studio, adjudication and informal concerts, feedback sessions and a Gala Concert. It will also include an opportunity for students from the various participating schools to take part in a creation/rehearsal/performance process, led by a guest artist during the conference. We are also planning for special faculty seminars and workshops and other opportunities for faculty development. Stay tuned for all the details as the academic year unfolds.

44 dances will be presented in four Adjudication Concerts. The Adjudication and the Gala Concerts will be held in Wilson Hall of the McCullough Student Center. Wilson Hall is a beautiful room and performance space, but it comes with limitations that are important for schools to note as they select dances for Adjudication Concerts. Please review the Stage Specifications very carefully!

We encourage you to look through all pages on this website. Details on conference opportunities, including performances, guest artists and more can be found on the pages under CONCERTS+ on this website.  ACDA policy and informational documents, including "ACDA Regional Conference Policies For Participants," can be found on the ACDA website > FOR CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS: Documents & Downloads.

Conference attendance is open to ACDA members and non-members, although only members may register during the member priority period and only institutional members may present work in adjudication concerts. Additionally, members pay a discounted registration fee. If you or your institution has not yet joined ACDA as an Individual or Institutional Member, we urge you to do so to receive the benefits of membership and to help further the important work we do for college and university dance programs. Visit ACDA's membership page for more information.

While we would like to accommodate all who wish to attend our conference, space is limited and registration fills quickly. Please note details about limits and timetables in the REGISTRATION pages on this website. You can track available spaces at the bottom of this page.

All of us at Middlebury College and UVM look forward to seeing you at the conference.
