Welcome!

SUNY Potsdam invites faculty and students to participate in the American College Dance Association's Northeast Region Conference, March 4-8, 2020, in Potsdam, NY.  Our conference will be an exciting celebration of dance in higher education. The conference schedule will include a wide variety of master classes, scholarly research presentations, opportunities for student and faculty exchanges in and out of the studio, adjudication and informal concerts, feedback sessions and a Gala Concert. We are also planning for special faculty seminars and workshops and other opportunities for faculty development.

The 2020 ACDA Northeast Region Conference will be guided by the theme: "Community".  As dancers, we are compelled to engage in the simple act of moving, creating and giving form to our very personal thoughts, concerns, perceptions and feelings. Dance may be emotional, political, abstract, theatre-based or simply about movement, but in every case, the dancer celebrates the joy of movement, its capacity for expressing who we as humans are and perhaps most importantly, its capacity for initiating change. And because as a performative art form we engage, both as practitioners and as audience members, in a collaborative endeavor, we are participants in an even larger community of choreographers dancers, designers, technicians, observers and beyond. We hope you will come to our conference with these considerations in mind.

We encourage you to look through all pages on this website. Details on conference opportunities, including performances, guest artists and more can be found on the pages under CONCERTS+ on this website.  ACDA policy and informational documents, including "ACDA Regional Conference Policies For Participants," can be found on the ACDA website > FOR CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS: Documents & Downloads.

Conference attendance is open to ACDA members and non-members, although only members may register during the member priority period and only institutional members may present work in adjudication concerts. Additionally, members pay a discounted registration fee. If you or your institution has not yet joined ACDA as an Individual or Institutional Member, we urge you to do so to receive the benefits of membership and to help further the important work we do for college and university dance programs. Visit ACDA's membership page for more information.

While we would like to accommodate all who wish to attend our conference, space is limited and registration fills quickly. Please note details about limits and timetables in the REGISTRATION pages on this website. You can track available spaces at the bottom of this page.

All of us at SUNY Potsdam look forward to seeing you at the conference.
