Troy Balthazor
Troy Balthazor, M.Ed., ACTCP, and Founder of TPB Enterprises, has worked in the disability field for over 25 years. He has spent much of his career advocating for the utilization of Universal Design in the built environment and in the classroom, his primary goal being the inclusion of all members of our diverse communities in the activities and environments everyone enjoys. Troy served as an Americans with Disabilities Act Specialist for the Great Plains ADA Center for over 10 years. The ADA Center is part of the University of Missouri's Architecture Department in the College of Human Environmental Sciences. Troy provides training, education and technical assistance on the ADA and related civil rights legislation to businesses, public entities, people with disabilities and their families, and a variety of other audiences. He helped plan and host the National ADA Symposium annually, providing the most comprehensive training available in the United States on the rights and responsibilities set forth under landmark civil rights laws aimed at providing equal opportunity to all citizens, regardless of ability level.
Matt Bollig
Matt grew up in Chanute, KS and graduated in 2010. He played football in college at Ottawa University, and studied Biology and Kinesiology. Matt transferred to Mizzou after a weightlifting accident his junior year. While there he studied Natural Resource Recreation Management. He worked for the National Ability Center in Park City Utah and for Midwest Adaptive Sports in Kansas City and continues to help with MAS directing/coaching wheelchair basketball. Disability awareness is something that means a lot to Matt and he'll continue to help the disability community for the rest of his career.
Jana Burke
Dr. Jana L. Burke is the president and founder of Mariposa Professional Services, a consulting firm specializing in ADA compliance strategies for organizations with rights and responsibilities under the law. Dr. Burke is a researcher, trainer and consultant who specializes in the ADA employment provisions and workplace strategies for ADA compliance. (insert space) Prior to starting her own firm, she was the project director and principle investigator for the Rocky Mountain ADA Center, funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Institute on Disability & Rehabilitation Research. She has conducted more than 300 ADA-related training sessions for employers, businesses, professional organizations, attorneys, state and local government entities, disability organizations, and people with disabilities. (Insert Space)Dr. Burke received a Doctorate of Philosophy in Organization & Management from Capella University, a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Regis University, and is a graduate of The Colorado College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
Michael Coleman
Officer Michael Coleman has been a sworn Police Officer with the City of Henderson since 2003. During his time with the agency, Officer Coleman has been a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, K9 Handler, Detective, Crisis Negotiator and most recently a Training Bureau Officer. Officer Coleman currently instructs all of the Departments ADA related courses and specializes in courses relating to the Autism Spectrum Disorder. Additionally, Officer Coleman is the Police Department’s Field Training Coordinator responsible for the in-the-field training of all new police officers. He has been awarded his Departments Medal of Valor Award and Life Saving Award and has been has been involved with the local Autism Community since 2004. He volunteers his time to charities, such as Project Sunshine Nevada, The Justin Hope Foundation and Challenger Special Needs Little League. Officer Coleman most recently obtained his Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinators Certificate and Co-Authored the book “Wheelchair, Officers Field Guide”. Officer Coleman has instructed topics relating to the Americans with Disabilities Act that include Deaf individual contacts, Wheelchair contacts and Autism Safety across the United States. Officer Coleman was additionally added to the Autism Coalition of Nevada’s (ACON) Advisory Committee in 2016.
Mike Edwards
Mike has been with the Great Plains ADA Center since 2001 where he serves as Missouri Coordinator. In 2010, Mike developed the ADA Coordinators Training Certification Program (ACTCP) in conjunction with the University of Missouri College of Human and Environmental Sciences. He coordinates all ACTCP activities. Mike has extensive experience in conducting access surveys, training on all areas of the ADA as well as providing technical assistance and consultation to individuals, businesses and communities.
Chuck Graham
Chuck is the Associate Director of the Great Plains ADA Center. He currently serves as Chair of the Columbia Disabilities Commission, Treasurer for Global First Responders and as a member of the National Advisory Board on Improving Health Care Services for Seniors and People with Disabilities for Anthem. Prior to returning to the Great Plains ADA Center, Chuck was the Assistant Minority Floor Leader in the Missouri Senate for four years and served eight years in the Missouri House of Representatives where he founded the Mizzou Wheelchair Basketball Program and sponsored legislation to fund the Mizzou Arena. He's a 1987 graduate of the University of Illinois where he received his bachelor's in Journalism.
Lewis Kraus
Lewis Kraus is the Co-Director of the Pacific ADA Center. Kraus is leading the national effort in dissemination about emergency preparedness and management for the ADA National Network. This effort has included national webinars - aimed at large diverse audiences that included emergency professionals and professionals with responsibilities for emergency management - and the development of tipsheets aimed at individuals with disabilities. Kraus has also led research projects around emergencies and people with disabilities and is the co-author of the 2013 article, “Emergency preparedness in a sample of persons with disabilities” in the American Journal of Disaster Medicine.
Shannon Mulhall
Shannon M. Mulhall, NIC, ACTCP, is the ADA Coordinator for the City of Fresno, CA and a certified sign language interpreter. She approaches all aspects of accessibility with an education-focus, understanding that people may not fully comprehend their role in providing equal opportunities to all members of the public. Shannon is a self-proclaimed ADA nerd who enjoys forays into the world of geeks and web accessibility.
Nanette Odell
Nanette Odell, Ed.D. has lived and/or worked with individuals with disabilities most of her life and in a professional capacity for over 30 years. After working in the public sector for 15 years, she started her own consulting business in 2010 then was hired as the Disability Service Manager/ADA Coordinator for the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks in 2012. Over the last 6 years, she’s become a content expert on areas of assembly accessibility and has established the Coalition for Arena & Stadium ADA Coordination.
Dr. Odell has presented for thousands over the years, including over 1500 city, county, state and federal employees. She has taught on the topic of Venue Compliance to the Arizona Ethics and Compliance Council, 2014, 2016 and 2017 ADA Symposiums, 2014 MLB Guest Services Summit and to thousands of game-day staff over the last five years.
Ray Petty
Ray has been with the Great Plains ADA Center since 1995 when he began as capacity-building and program evaluation subcontractor. He is currently responsible for the delivery of ADA Network services throughout the State of Kansas. In addition to provided training, technical assistance and consultation to individuals and entities in the state of Kansas, he conducts outreach and capacity building activities. He serves on the advisory boards of the Assistive Technology for Kansans and the Disability Rights Center of Kansas and the task force providing accessibility guidance to the renovation project of the Kansas Capitol in Topeka.
Natalie Sparrow
Natalie Sparrow is the Accessibility Coordinator for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, ADA Coordinator for the City of Chino, California, and a consultant for a diverse range of Title II and Title III entities on event and public-right-of-way accessibility. She successfully managed the satisfaction of a long-standing Settlement Agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice in 2019 and has more than 10 years of experience working with and for individuals with disabilities. She earned a Masters degree in Community Health Sciences from Tulane University and ADA Coordinator Certification from the ACTCP program.
Rich Sternadori
Richard Sternadori is the Education Coordinator and Principal Research Investigator for the University of Missouri (MU) Great Plains ADA Center since 2008. He holds a Masters of Architecture from MU where he is an Instructor with the Department of Architecture. He also has Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology, with a specialty in disabilities rehabilitation. His background includes 14 years a union master carpenter followed by 16 years as Chief Building Official and zoning administrator. Highlights include two awards from the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) for leadership. Richard chaired the ICBO Contractor Licensing Committee, whose work led to the current contractor licensing exams used today by all 50 states. Governor Joan Finney appointed Rich to the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions, which oversees education and licensing for architects, engineers and surveyors. Richard is the liaison between the ADA Centers and the ICC and directs the design track for the annual ADA National Symposiums. He’s a published researcher and author, conducting and publishing accessibility research regarding community accessibility, design, aging and livability.
