• Impressive and relative design, décor and characteristics, including background music;
• Attention to cleanliness and hygiene (interior and external premises);
• Quality of in-house plants or flower arrangements;
• Quality and/or range of facilities (for example, pool, spa, tennis court, gym, kids room);
• Adequate security and safety;
• Access to office admin services - business centre, high speed internet and photocopying service;
• Relative, appropriate and innovative in-house marketing to engage the customer.
• Variety of food and beverage outlets (1-3)

Breakfast

• Background music/lighting/noise levels/ease of access;
• Greeted warmly, seated promptly, staff grooming and uniform;
• Cleanliness/hygiene of room and facilities;
• Technical skills and knowledge of staff;
• Pleasant parting salutation;
• Accuracy of account;

Hotel Bar

• Beverage menu presentation – condition and readability (font size, colours and layout);
• Staff – presentation and grooming (including uniform);
• Staff - technical skill/knowledge and suggestive selling techniques;
• Quality of beverages - innovation, selection and diversity;
• Efficiency of service – serving drinks, clearing tables, taking second drink orders;
• Pleasant parting salutation;
• Accuracy of account.

Guest Services

• Staff knowledge of local tourist attractions and current events;
• Revert back with answers to queries in a timely manner;
• Quality of collateral and tour promotion material;

Grounds

• Quality of lawns and plantings – including upkeep (e.g. wedding and trimming);
• Special features (e.g. water features, statues, signature trees and lighting);
• Condition of equipment – play equipment and/or pools in good condition, clean and ready for use.

General criteria

• Natural ambience, including pleasant décor, unique features, views, lighting and background music;
• Measure of popularity relative to day of week;
• Cleanliness of room and appropriate room temperature;
• Appropriate separation between BOH and FOH activities;
• Cleanliness and hygiene of toilets, including relevant directional signage.

Overall Judge’s Experience

• In each property category, judges will rate their overall guest experience, enjoyed during their stay, on a scale of 1-10, factoring in observations from all areas they have assessed.
• This mark will be included in the overall judging tally, to determine Award winners.
