How to Be Your Own Best Mentor

This workshop is the first workshop in a three-part workshop curriculum developed on mentoring by Carolee Bull, Ph.D., a nationally acclaimed mentor and director of the PSU Microbiome Center.  The “own best mentor” workshop is targeted at students, postdocs and early career faculty, though well-established faculty have also benefited from the workshop. For the Phytobiomes Symposium, this will be a two-hour interactive workshop with introspective work, breakout sessions and group discussions. In the workshop we will develop personal mission statements and discuss how to use these mission statements to plan for the future by identifying the knowledge and skills you need to be successful in your career. Each participant should bring writing tools (paper and pencil), their agenda (the tool used to keep your to do list), an open mind and willingness to participate.
