About the General Assembly

The General Assembly is the supreme organ of UNWTO. Its ordinary sessions are held every two years and are attended by delegates from UNWTO Full and Associate Members, as well as by representatives from UNWTO Affiliate Members.

It is the most important global meeting of senior tourism officials and high-level ‎representatives of the private sector.

The 23rd edition of the UNWTO General Assembly will take place in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, from 9 to 13 September, 2019. The main theme of the Assembly will be “Education and Employment in Tourism, realizing SDG 4 and SDG 8”.Tourism Ministers and Heads of Delegation will be invited to discuss how the tourism sector can benefit from and contribute to the achievement of the universal 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at both the local and the national level.
