Program Overview

Course Description:

The University of Rochester Division of Cardiology is gathering locally renowned experts to deliver updates in cardiology and to review current and best practices for treating patients diagnosed or symptomatic with cardiovascular disease. The symposium is designed to improve the primary care providers' confidence in the diagnosis and treatment of patients who have cardiovascular disease and will also provide the region’s primary care physicians, hospitalists, internists, cardiologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and other health care professionals with information to assist in better assessment and management of their cardiac patients.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Recognize how to diagnose and differentiate common cardiac problems; for example, syncope, chest pain, aortic aneurysms.

  2. Explain new guidelines on hypertension and apply them in day to day practice.

  3. Identify state-of-the art diagnostic and treatment strategies for CAD, cardiomyopathy, and CHF.
