Workshop Details

Conference Workshops
Experts will share cutting edge information on a broad range of topics of great relevance for parent education, early childhood, home visiting, family support, and other human service professionals who support children and families. Workshops will be offered in half-day and full-day formats. This allows you even more opportunities in selecting topics that meet your professional goals.

Presentation Levels:

  • Introductory (basic information for individuals new to the subject or field)
  • Intermediate (mid-level professionals with strong topic knowledge)
  • Advance (seasoned professional who wants to deepen their knowledge)
Strengthening Families Protective Factor Framework
Across the country, family support and early education and care programs are using the Strengthening Families approach to build five protective factors in families:
  • Parental resilience
  • Social connections
  • Knowledge of parenting and child development
  • Concrete support in times of need
  • Social and emotional competence in children

Research shows that when these five Protective Factors are robust in families, the likelihood of child abuse and neglect is decreased and the optimal development of children and families is increased.

This conference provides information, skills, and strategies to help family support, early education and care, and other human service programs enhance the development of these important Protective Factors in the families they serve. The Protective Factors addressed in each workshop are identified below the workshop description.

Department of Early Education and Care Core Competencies
All conference workshops also address the EEC Core Competencies for early education and out of school time educators. The EEC Core Competency Areas addressed by each workshop are also identified below the workshop description

The following three workshops do not meet the EEC Core Competencies Continuing Education Units (CEUs) Criteria. If you select these workshops, you are not eligible to apply and receive the Early Education Credit CEUs.
